Yep. Tom was diagnosed with C19 which in Australia. Luckily our (socialised) healthcare system wasn't overloaded, as we have been pursuing an elimination strategy through lockdowns/mask mandates/movement restrictions/location checkins. (Although our chump of a Prime Minister truly screwed the pooch with procuring vaccines - we're getting there though.)
So we were more worried about Tom suffering from an overdose of Vegemite than C19.
I don't understand how someone could have run the very real risk of losing their Dad to this virus and then be so blasƩ about it.

They should get kicked out of beds to make space for other patients who got vaccinated and need treatments. With freedom of choice, comes the responsibility of bearing that choice. Your inadequate options shouldn't block the treatment that other responsible people need to receive.
Edit: I should say that I believe in exceptions to these cases to people who are SERIOUS about their religion(like the Amish), to those who did not have reasonable access to vaccines, and to those who have medical conditions where even doctors discourage them from taking it. But Tom Hank's son? To these anti-vaxxers promoting conspiracies? Nah bruh, you ain't getting no bed with that attitude. You had every chance and opportunity to do the right thing. But you still behave like that? I have no sympathy for you. I feel bad for the people getting denied care BECAUSE of you.

My uncle just died from fucking covid last week, 10 days in a hospital hooked up to a machine and his body eventually just gave out. My other uncle, his brother, is an anti-vax dickhead, to the point where he wonāt give his infant son vaccines because ThEy CaUsE aUtIsM. Even now, a day after he buried his brother, the moron is still spouting anti-vax bullshit and refusing to take any precautions against covid. You just really canāt fix this level of stupid, and sadly he is just one of many out there that act the same.
