What do you do that you earn six figures?

It seems like a lot of people make a lot of money and it seems like I’m missing out on something. So those of you that do, whats your occupation that pays so well?

Ugh I’m a non-dev at a SaaS company, have 10 years of experience, do three times the work, and only make make 60% of what the junior devs make. Fucking blows.

So why don’t you go out and get a new job? Interviewing is the worst but just think about the 20% raise you’d get for the new company. Don’t complain, make it happen.

It’s not the job, it’s the industry. SEs are (frankly) overpaid.

That may be your opinion but apparently that’s not what the market says. The amount someone is paid is not directly correlated to the amount of hours they work. It’s the skill level and value they bring to the company. If companies are willing to pay $1M a year to hire a developer to work 10 hours a week then that’s how much they’re worth because other companies will have to pay that much to retain them. You think celebrities that make $20M per movie are all working really hard?

Lol get fucked dude. I’m already above top end of the pay range for my role, even in my high COL area. Paying junior devs $200k base after 2 years is idiotic.

That’s a little aggressive. That being said…. companies like Google and Microsoft and Amazon etc are paying that kind of money and doing just fine. I wouldn’t consider them idiotic.

Take a deep breath. It’s Friday :)
