What do you do that you earn six figures?

It seems like a lot of people make a lot of money and it seems like I’m missing out on something. So those of you that do, whats your occupation that pays so well?

I just broke 200k total comp with 2 years of experience. My parents aren’t American and I don’t even think they believe me. The field is stupid lucrative right now.

It’s always crazy when I hear total comp numbers for HCOL areas and I’m in the same industry. I broke 100k at 5 years in a medium cost of living area. When compared to my peers I was slightly underpaid (I moved from LCOL area and didn’t realize I was being lowballed for a while), but not by much. Now I’m at a similar level. This is compared to peers across several companies in the same area. So, even within the same country salaries in places like California sound unbelievable.

COL is a huge factor. 200k here is probably like 100k where you live .

Yeah the calculator I found said it’s about 230k in San Francisco. Not sure if that’s where you are but that’s the place I always assume with HCOL areas
