I just noticed this model also has the skintight "angry eyebrows" bandanna thing going on as what was shown for the remake.

That has literally been a thing for over 20 years and all the casuals are going wild about it all of the sudden.

He's right handed and loses his right eye, so I'm sure it was a big adjustment. It's really hard to aim through your left eye while holding right handed, so maybe he's doing muscle memory/ aiming his left eye on a certain point of his gun or target as a reference point based off all the experience he has using a gun

In MGS 3, when he loses the eye, he still sets his sights directly in the middle of the screen in first person. This implies he's cross dominant (right handed, uses left eye to aim).

I actually love that the right side of first person reflects him having the eye missing with a lack of peripheral vision.

So then that's probably exactly it, he used his left eye as a reference point and with years of experience knows where to aim using his left eye while right handed

It's muscle memory and takes a couple more games for him to overcome it. But he does start holding pistols to his left more

Handedness doesn't correlate to eyesness, your dominant eye can be not a match to your dominant eye, like right handed but left eyed

This part. I shoot pistols right handed, aim with my left. I shoot rifles lefty, and get weird looks from other people at the range.
Idk it works for me.

That's correct, but try aiming with your left eye while holding a gun right handed. It's very hard to do. And most people will just use long arms (like rifles) left handed if this is the case because it's not a hard adjustment. Handguns on the other hand are a little harder

By the time of MGSV he have overcome that and aims by the left eye while still being right handed.

This meme is hilarious but I'm pretty sure in-context he wasn't actually aiming down the sights, he was just keeping his gun trained on something while looking at it. It's been a few years since I played Peace Walker but could have sworn this is just an "ha out of context this looks hilarious" image

I'm team muscle memory, those rounds are going exactly where he intends them to go.

His eyepatch is actually made from the same material as the decals on the mcdonalds windows, opaque on one side and completely see through on the other. He can see clear as day and still trick us into thinking its a plot hole
This is not canon)

This is absolutely intentional and completely explained. How annoying can you be, /u/Madougatee ?

i really love how in MGS5 a lot of the sights on the guns have raisers to make it easier for snake to fire with his right hand and aim with his left eye (or it was a completely unintentional detail that im just looking to hard into)

What's more, you get see this animation in Peacewalker before every boss fight (APC, Tanks, Helis, Metal GEAR). Good luck beating them with only an M16

MGS3 does actually take account of this. After Snake looses that eye, in first person mode, the right third of the screen is blacked out and his aim for weapons is shifted slightly to the left.
