I received that game by subscribing to Nintendo Power magazine back in the day (a free bonus at the time). It was an incredible gift that I played through several times, and one of many reasons Nintendo managed to make me a lifelong fan.

My childhood NES games were Final Fantasy, the MB/Duck Hunt duo cartridge you got, TMNT, and a not too mainstream called XEXYZ. Good memories, I tell ya.

That have genie manual unlocked a core memory for me. I spend so much time trying to type in different random things to see what it did.

I would always “accidentally” enter wrong characters just so I could press B and watch them explode into pieces

Best random code I ever got was one that turned all the Goombas in Super Marios Bros into Bowsers.

I didn’t know what it was called at the time but I taught myself hex with the game genie by changing codes to see what happened.

Didn't even look at the games after seeing the Game Genie and remembering all the time wasted on that fun little thing.

Man, my NES got sold at a garage sale eons ago.
This makes me sad and nostalgic.

Traded all my childhood memories (several in this photo from OP) for a PS1 in late 90s. The PlayStation was good for what it was but what a waste in retrospect.

I always look for The Three Stooges game and Little Nemo. Rarely see those but I played the heck out of them.

No one is going to comment that it's upside-down...
