I absolutely cannot believe that this picture is now ten years old.

Reminds me of Dice on why they wouldn't release Bad Company 3.
Basically comes down to "We have no idea what made BC2 so good so we don't know where to start with BC3"

probably for the better to be honest. Milking IP without a clear direction is what ruins franchises like Star Wars.

The direction was clear. Make money.

Kind of a good thing, because the gaming market changed massively, so it would just be designed to sell MTX instead of gameplay, like 2042 is.

I think it was a combination of a brand new engine and coming off the lackluster reviews of the first bad company to be honest. I played from launch to just about the “death” of it, sometime after Vietnam launched for it, it just did mouse and keyboard gun play so well, the battlefields changing as they’re destroyed and you move through to the next point in rush was unlike anything before it, or after it. the sound design was superb, no M1911 pistol sounds better in a game, fuck even the attachments were great, I had close to a platinum star with smoke grenades, I think I was at 9 gold stars, almost platinum with the knife and shotgun slugs too. I was a OMA jackass, just smoke out a room with a squad, pick off those that pop up with slugs, maybe get one with my smoke, infiltrate with my knife and bring the rest down. It was the best of times.

Idk, few, if any mtx, the net code wasn’t horrible, maps were all pretty good, and just about every gun was viable. There wasn’t a changing meta or constant tweaks every season, aside from a few balance patches.

It was one of the last “here’s a game we made, either love it or hate it, it is what it is”

Ahah I have several platinum with several weapons but I remember being at 999 for the knife and the shotgun attachement because friends and I used to try and dobour platinums on each other because it says who you did it on

I think there’s a lot of nostalgia for BC, in the end it did do things well. It transformed the franchise into a more console friendly game and it added destructible buildings. They incorporated these features into future games it’s just that BC was the first in the franchise to have them. Really similar to the impact of modern warfare in the call of duty franchise .
