This is a pretty good indication the plant it came from has a virus. Plants use the chloroplasts to fight virus. These also help with the photosynthesis, and certain viroids can present in the form of mosaic patterns on the leaves. This can be fought by removing the impacted part of the plant, or sometimes by helping enrich the soil the plant is in, kind of like how vitamin C helps boost our immune system.

Disclaimer: I’m not 100% this is what is happening, as my plant experience comes from growing cannabis and that’s what these symptoms mean for a cannabis plant and the suggestions is how I treat an infected plant.
