I was trying to post something and I don’t have enough karma
Many subreddits require you to have a certain amount of karma and account age before posting. This is done to prevent spammers.
I don’t understand the game
Comment on /r/all/rising or on the rising queue of any subreddit. Sort by Top of the Hour on any subreddit and leave any insightful or funny comment that you think suits the discussion or pertains to the post in question. The first few points will add up in a 1:1 ratio. Once you get good at the game, it gets harder from there. After some time, you'll have just enough to post on a few subs. Post on those subs and gain more. After 3 months you'll be able to post just about everywhere.
