Giannis' random big game elite free-throw shooting continues to be one of the most intriguing anomalies to me

Giannis did everything humanly possible. It's just that Tatum did the same, and he has a better team. The Celtics should be the favorites to win game 7.

Idk about that. Giannis has clearly figured something out.
It might come down to how many charges the refs decide to call on Sunday.

It’s not random at this point. He has turned into a Lebron level playoff performer in big spots/close out games. 14/15 at the line and 2/3 from deep in a close out game was eerily similar to Game 6 vs the Suns. No one came along for the ride this time, but he is far and away the best player in the world and has proven that he’s incredibly clutch.

u/delusionalnbafan 12d ago
Also turning into LeBron in the sense he’s carrying poor performing players and losing to the Celtics.

Oddly enough they didn't throw a lot of extra defenders at Giannis tonight (except in the paint), basically the opposite treatment that they gave to KD last round... they mostly stayed home and focused on clamping up everyone else instead.
→ More replies144
u/AlcoholicInsomniac Pistons 12d ago
Not that odd, that's been their most successful strategy so far this series. Things have started going wrong for them when they add the extra help and Giannis either gets fouled by one of the extra defenders or kicks it out for an open shot.

What a game by Giannis and Tatum.
On the other hand George Hill with 0 points, 0 assists, 1 rebound, 5 PF in 18 minutes, hunted on defense all game long. Why doesn't Bud play Jevon Carter again? He's been excellent for the Bucks IIRC and is a better defender. Or just give Matthews and Connaughton more minutes, they played 27 and 33 tonight, give them both 35+ if you don't trust Carter and play Giannis at PG.

Been one of the craziest storylines I feel like isn’t being talked about. Dude had a team high +/- in game 1 and hasn’t sniffed the floor since. While the other guys on the bench (hill, Allen) have been absolutely cooked on d out there. I know single game +/- doesn’t mean much but you’d think Bud would at least try him out there.
