Don't really see how this fits their job description.

People become firefighters to prevent suicides?

Fighting fires is actually a pretty small portion of your average firefighter's duties. It's mostly EMS calls, which includes suicidal people.

It's not necessarily standardized everywhere, but firefighters generally have some form of training as to how to handle people in mental health crises.

This is speaking from the perspective of the US. I can't really speak for anywhere else based on experience, but it isn't a US only thing.
