we rationalize Sydney in order to expand & keep at 16 clubs

NO. This is the worst idea ever. Sydney is where this game has come from. The Sydney/NSW clubs are the last ones that need to be kicked from the comp.

Note I said IF there's still a problem with depth... ideally we'd add Brisbane 2, Perth, NZ 2 & Adelaide and have a decent competition footprint with 20 teams and enough talent to fill them.

The game originating in Sydney is completely irrelevant to any argument about what needs to be done for the success of the overall sport.

Clubs have died before, others have been excised. Multiple clubs in Sydney have been struggling in a variety of ways for a very long time. I'm not advocating for kicking anyone out of the comp (except Souths, obviously), but no club should be untouchable when considering decisions impacting the overall health of the sport.

Pretty sure it came from Huddersfield. Just saying. Also Queensland had an organised RL competition pretty early on too, so this argument that Sydney is where all the history is gets pretty tiring.
