Wish dot com working diligently to copy and deploy this as we speak

And a month shipping

Unless the canal gets clogged up again.

then what

u/Evanskelaton 26d ago

You got your shit from them fast then... I remember getting my last order, and it was like 3 months after i ordered it. Lol

u/achtagon 26d ago

Thats part of the fun. Especially drunk orders. Wait a bit and then its like Christmas with random crap rolling in.

I once ordered a violin from Wish for the case and I got it in 3 days. Came from PA. Everything else I have ordered was a month+

u/mobocrat707 26d ago

The shipping time taking longer than the R&D is definitely sounds right for Wish

1

u/achtagon 26d ago

And expect it to be 1/4 scale

A month‽ look at Mr pre-COVID/Suez time traveler over here!

1

u/realbesterman 26d ago

And all your browsing history

Instead of string it’s curled up paper

Don't give them ideas!

Fad toy craze waiting to happen again, you mean. These were huge twenty years ago when I was a kid haha

5

u/Lord_Bloodwyvern 26d ago

Ooh ooh ohh, can we get this and those popper things you throw at the ground and it explodes?

3

u/PistolasAlAmanecer 26d ago

One time my cousins and I meticulously unwrapped an entire box of those into a paper towel hoping to make it into a more of an explosion.

We lit it, and it smoked a bit and nothing else. My day was ruined and my disappointment immeasurable!

This was a fad toy craze like, 25 years ago, I remember seeing these as a kid at random carnivals/mall stands/cheap toy outlets

It already happened, it's just waiting to resurface. I had one if these as a kid in the early 2000s, purchased at a souvenir shop on vacation in Florida, presumably unreasonably overpriced. It had a kind of tie-dye rainbow string in it, and it was absolutely mesmerizing. It broke before we got home from vacation.

Made of cheap parts? Check.

There appears to be an entirely useless microcontroller in there.

u/ACCount82 26d ago

You need a charge controller to charge and use a lithium battery safely.

8

u/TheLastDabSauce 26d ago

Plenty of microcontroller are still super cheap.

5

u/RFLSHRMNRLTR 26d ago

Yea a board like that can be as little as $1.30 probably less if you buy large quantities

4

u/meltingdiamond 26d ago

I still find it fucked up that the lightning cord has a micro in it.

It just feels wrong.

4

u/LowB0b 26d ago

This one the tiktok video is showing I can understand why there's a microcontroller in there, since it's easier to buy those than it is to buy just 1 chip purposefully made to control 2 motors. For a large batch, yeah doesn't make sense

1

u/kaihatsusha 26d ago

Some microcontrollers are well below a buck, even at single quantities.

1

u/grmpy 26d ago

There appears to be an entirely useless microcontroller in there.

I mean it's 2021. It's gotta connect to Wi-Fi, right?

1

u/sketchreey 26d ago

im pretty sure that is a TP4056

2

u/amart591 26d ago

They've been selling these at theme parks for years. My parents always refused to buy me one because they charged an ungodly amount of money for them. Finally bought one on a field trip in high school aaaand...it broke within a week. It was cool though. The rope was color changing neon and it had a built in black light so in the dark it made a really cool effect. Now I wish I still had it.

I wonder if you can use it to have different waveforms and make some r/oscilloscopemusic

1

u/we_just_jam 26d ago

5 minutes? If you can make the cord light up via LEDs, you will have have a smash hit with.. uhh.. cats

1

u/redhat12345 26d ago

If you could make the string LED lights or something these would be cool at a festival

1

u/Raymer13 26d ago

I want one. Mostly to annoy the animals with. And maybe my kid.

1

u/TheGreyBull 26d ago

Physics? Bro, this is witchcraft..

1

u/CrazyDudeWithATablet 26d ago

They are fairly large though.

1

u/calcifer__ 26d ago

It already was/is. I had one almost twenty years ago.

1

u/ruddy3499 26d ago

Crap I got for Christmas growing up in the seventies -check

1

u/JustH3LL 26d ago

First thing I would say to improve is swap the motors for brushless ones

1

u/akmjolnir 26d ago

ElectroBoom just had a video touching on this phenomenon.

1

u/Deenyc43 26d ago

I was watching without sound so I thought he went into slo-mo when the string smoothed out. Very weird to see.
