The irony makes this absolutely hilarious. Gotta love it!

Not to mention that these are likely the same people who yell at anyone who dares to not speak General American English around them.

Generally, the Americans you’ll meet who demand that everyone else speaks English speak roughly 0.45 of their own language fluently. In other words, they’re morons.

Now, imagine learning a second language (or even dialectical variations within English, ffs) when you can’t even really master and understand the nuances of your own local use. It’s probably easier for them to be xenophobic than to come to terms with the fact that they’re so far behind that they’re personally incapable of learning a second language, considering they haven’t finished learning their first.

In other words, they’re morons.

You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.

They're not speaking English, they're speaking American.

And we know they want nothing to do with G.A.E.

Oh my God, I just realized this is their first, best, primary and only language. That sign represents their best foot forward at attempting written English. How very unfortunate

Oh, so you attend Science Hill Elementary, then?

Edit: because of the virus killing people there, just to clarify, not intending to be diminutive.

I find it pretty sad to be honest.

I think it is horrible. It makes me sad. I have family members like this and it is the worst thing in the world right now... well one of the worst.

Sorry about your situation, I didn't really think that deep about it, I just thought it was really funny at first glance. Good luck with your people!

There's a double irony here because those parents probably went to compulsory public schooling.

Or they had parents similar to themselves xd It's a whole lineage of idiots :D
