You know what worries me? US elected this complete moron as their president. He's not just a moron, he's just worst person possible. Adulterer, tax-evader, liar, steals from charities. You name it. The sleazy uncle who ogles at his teenage nieces and asks for them to sit on his lap. That's Trump. And USA elected him as their president. As bad as that is, what really worries me is this: Imagine if he was actually competent? You know, evil but smart. Instead of evil but moron. Would USA survive a president that is downright evil but smart? You barely survived Trump (and really, jury is still out if you did), what happens when a candidate comes along who is just as evil and corrupt as Trump, but is actually smart?
After watching that I’m convinced anyone with enough money can become president. It’s hardly a fucking accolade any more after Trump won it. That buffoon single handedly undermined so much in such a short time. Biden just looks like a sad old man who’s turned up at the end of a violent orgy and has to clean up.
Biden IS a sad old man, regardless of trump. His life's dream has always been to be president, and now that he has it, people talk like trump is still president lmao it's kind of hilarious.
Just look at the comments in this thread. As much as I hate trump, how is this even relevant? If I had just woken up from a coma and immediately went on reddit, I'd think trump was still president.
Johnson was educated at Eton College and studied Classics at Balliol College, Oxford. He was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1986. In 1989, he became the Brussels correspondent, and later political columnist, for The Daily Telegraph, where his articles exerted a strong Eurosceptic influence on the British right-wing of politics. He was editor of The Spectator magazine from 1999 to 2005.
He is a true representation of his followers. He is what they aspire to be in terms of perceived power and wealth, and he says and does what they wish they could in their daily lives. Though as we have found out during his presidency and after his defeat, it seems they are VERY vocal about their braindead, racist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-intellectual thoughts.
He is the epitome of the fat, loud, narcissistic, stupid American stereotype.
He is the epitome of the fat, loud, narcissistic, stupid American stereotype.
You left off the one adjective that rules above all others - racist.
He got the majority of the white vote. He is literally the president of white America. That's why they can't accept the loss - non-white votes don't count and never did as far as they are concerned.
From the moment I saw he was running (am Brit, btw), I thought : surely not, how is this (already) demonstrable fool going to run a Country anywhere but into the ground based on previous performance...a litany of failed ventures, multiple bankcruptcies, a philanderer at best, an Epstein chum certainly...how could he possibly be attractive as a World Leader, or even their leader, particularly to those Americans with a strong Christian faith?
As it transpired, he did pretty much as expected, got a few cheap wins for his voters, (we'll gloss over that several were coming into place anyway having been approved in Obama's era), lined friends' and his own pockets (with dollars or otherwise), but otherwise he failed repeatedly, and not just his voters, but all Americans and America herself, by his initial arrogant dismissals of Covid, his ongoing inability to grasp & communicate the science of Covid, his support of racism, the voting debacle1, and, of course, the whole Capitol attack thing.
1 From the moment he began the attacks on postal voting and encouraging Republicans to vote in person, several months before, it was blatantly obvious, even from over here, he would cry "foul" when he lost.
Credit where it's due : the North Korean thing. Dimplomacy and Negotiation is always best performed face-to-face, he got that right, though he was fortuitously equipped with his gift-of-the-gab salesman's patter. It was always doomed to a limited conclusion of course, no way Kim Jong-un and Co were going to invite through the door the inevitable destruction of their power (democracy), but Trump did make the right gestures and advance diplomacy away from that of a near-gunboat policy.
But lets go back to those voters ...
The truth is that whilst these people speak piously, they will readily rain hardship down on others (ie: anyone unlike them, that they consequently consider "beneath" them) without batting an eye, and will vote for it in 2024 ... indeed, that is literally the Republican stance, and why Trump is " their man".
Whoever runs, if not Trump himself, they will be dressed as Trump in salutation, continiung the irony that is MAGA, and he (I don't see it being a she, though it's of course not impossible) will have been VERY publically endorsed by Trump.
Someone remarked on Reddit recently that America is still fighting the Civil War, but now it's at the Ballot Box. I don't think that's too far from being true.
Imagine if he was actually competent?
If that Civil War issue isn't resolved, it seems inevitable your "evil but smart" individual will come to fruition.
Of course, Democrat Presidents already get labelled "evil" by Republicans.
And, let's not forget, the last time America tried to take a genuinly major step forward in it's progressive thinking, Kennedy was assassinated.
Worrying times.
BTW, we have mini-Trump in charge here; Boris Johnson; not as outright stupid, but definitely similarly inclined otherwise.
Suffice to say, things are going from bad to worse.
It was all just for show. You can't really expect North Korea to have serious negotiations when their leader is a certified psychopath.
A simple Google search shows that they've been launching missiles this year and all of last year.
All North Korea wanted out of the meeting with Trump was to be recognized. Trump gave validity to their stupidity. There's a reason no other country wants to deal with them except for China.
I've never seen someone simp for North Korea so hard on Reddit. Stop giving stupid nations the spotlight. That's all NK wants. They want to be taken seriously but they know they never will outside of Trump meeting with them.
Less missile launches doesn't mean "tensions" are reduced. They still say the same dumb shit where they want to nuke the US and give the same old "NK is stronger than US" propaganda to their citizens.
It's not about simping. The airtime wouldn't be given without you going off on one because I gave credit to Trump for the NK approach.
Less missile launches are most definitely a factor in reduced tensions.
The propaganda and rhetoric will of course continue being same shit every year, again, why would you expect otherwise when it risks losing control of his citizens, a couple of fireside chats with "The Western Devil" won't change that overnight.
There is zero tension between NK and the US. The tension only exists in the head of Kim and US media. He knows if he ever shot a missile at the US he would be evaporated in 15 minutes or less. Hence why he only shoots missiles in the ocean a few hundred miles off NKs shore.
Giving Trump credit for talking to North Korea is a joke. If you think that they will ever change, then clearly the propaganda is working on you too.
Every other President ignored them because they're a joke. And they still are a joke. Trump only did it for the attention and to have conservative media on their knees calling him a diplomatic mastermind.
Here's the thing. The US didn't elect Trump on purpose. They just chose flat out NOT to elect Hilary Clinton. Really. Putting Clinton up as the nominee was a disaster of historical proportions for the Democrats. She was/is HATED by so many people. She was/is an incredibly polarizing person. It wasn't that so many voted for Trump in 2016, the problem was that the people who voted for Clinton, Obama, even Gore, Kerry etc. stayed home and didn't vote for Hilary. That's why he won.
I think part of what appears to be "truly evil" is not being very smart. Because once you get smart enough, you realize that being found out and despised doesn't work very well, (or any other number of logical reasons not to hurt people.)
If you're brainwashed by Nazi ideology then you are truly evil but the degree doesn't make you smart like the original poster was suggesting. I'm being a little "No True Scotsman" I know. I'm just suggesting that being truly evil isn't a very smart thing to do.
what really worries me is this: Imagine if he was actually competent? You know, evil but smart. Instead of evil but moron.
Hollywood has tricked us into fearing the evil masterminds. But they don't really exist, or rather they aren't so monumentally destructive because their self-interest restrains their destructiveness. The biggest name in evil was considered a clown too.
The danger is not from smart people, the danger is from relentless people. It takes skill to build a house, but any damn fool can demolish a house if they just keep bashing away at it. The idiot with a wrecking ball is the danger we need to fear most.
