What I imagine they actually asked was, “Where are you getting this information from?” As in, is someone telling you these stupid ideas or are you making them up from your own brain? So that if he had any self-reflection he could think about it. However, he in his infinite narcissism, took it as a compliment and that they were impressed by his “knowledge.”

this is the part that feels like a joke. specifically. don't get it twisted, or try to twist it like i'm saying he was joking about putting sunlight/disinfectant in his body.
My problem with thinking it's a joke is that by many accounts he's quite charismatic and charming in person... if that's the case, then I find it hard to believe he could so often be so tone deaf and unable to make it clear he's joking.
I make too many jokes, but rarely do people think I'm serious when I'm joking and if they do I can sense that and then make it clear that it was a joke. I just think if he's really the personality they say he is, then we wouldn't be able to have this many misunderstood jokes
it's actually super easy to explain. people stop thinking clearly when they hear the name "Trump". I've been painted as a Trumper by multiple people here already based on what I said. most people are idiots who wouldn't get a joke if it knocked on their front door. now add politics. also, stop comparing you goofing off with your friends to standing at a podium making a monologue.

The guy has been talking to crowds his whole life. Speaking to people in high stakes situations is something he considers to be one of his best attributes... he even co-wrote a book about it.

Granted, but just because you’re a narcissist does not mean you can’t be self aware or find humor in the things you do. The guy has lived a life that most dream of. On his worst day, he was never a “loser.”(which he is very proud of) I don’t like him, but to be so wound around the axle about someone and to dehumanize them to place all your negative emotion on them is unhealthy. And Idk about you, but I do not dream about living a life devoid of some semblance of awareness of myself and those around me all in the name of winning or some shit. Money ≠ "The Dream Life". Sure it can help, but I doubt many sane people are thinking "fuck, I wish I was Donald Trump".
He became president of the nation... He has numerous properties and a large family. He’s avoided jail time on so many occasions the guy is made of Teflon. He doesn’t have a bad life by any means. Other than emotional responses, by any metric he has more than the ideal life.
I don’t idolize him by any means, but if I had the opportunity to snap my fingers and swap places with the guy(other than age), I’d do it.
To say you would turn down his wealth and that kind of ability just because people dislike the person(myself included) is simply folly.
