I was a little over seven years old. A group of school kids had set up camp in the woods in one of the surrounding valleys. There were three of us kids, so I was sleeping on the ground. I was awoken by something huge stomping on the ground.

The other kids were still in bed. My sister and I opened our eyes and looked at each other. The other kids were screaming and running, while I was just laying there. I then realized what had happened. It was an owl.

It began stomping on my left side and then turned around and flew into a tree. We ran into the tree, and I could see the wing and legs spread out, but I didn't see its head. It then flew away with the tree branch and branch sticking out from the back.

The headless owl, that I have since named The Red Owl (after the color of the blood in it's eyes) had left me with a broken jaw, broken ribs and two puncture holes in my stomach. The trauma that was caused to my body was too much for my skull to keep together. I had a fractured rib in my right side, right side brain hemorrhage, internal organ damage, and a bleeding spleen. When it happened to me, I felt like someone had shot me in the stomach. My brain had exploded from the loss of blood, leaving behind a sea of white, blood filled spots. I still had the feeling that I was being tortured from the brain hemorrhage.

Was probably a great horned owl, but why it chose to stomp you is a mystery unless it saw a mouse run under your sleeping bag or something….There’s a reason real woodsman do NOT wear coonskin hats in the woods….These things kill deer, sooooo
