As far as local douchebags go, their Taliban has better trigger discipline than our Proud Boys. Sad.

What fuels the most disaffection isn't recent events but the fact that all of that equipment, material, and training essentially gets written off as a loss but the lowly soldier, marine, airman, or sailor still has to pay for a single missing item out of their clothing record.

Just a nitpick - there's a sharia - regulation beard length for soldiers (2 fists I believe, as one of the prophet's companions trimmed it before battle). None of these guys fits that mold. These are pics of another fighting force.

I am high key pissed before the US Northern alliance was giving a good fight to the Taliban and they don't have those good weapons now Taliban can overthrow the northern alliance with this good of a tech. Seriously night vision goggles are pretty sure is police force didn't have it. (Not swat). Indian govt has to spend a god chunk to provide that to CRPF and was a massive flex by govt (police force against guerilla warfare Maoist). And before the current govt, the previous government was not providing that).

You can have withdrawal just give your stuff to the northern alliance or blow it or something just doesn't give it to literal terrorists.

Here's just a thought:

What if the US military intentionally left all that gear to up-arm the Taliban as to further destabilize the region, especially Pakistan and to put pressure on China about the internment/concentration camps for the Muslims?

Honestly would surprise me that some shady backroom deal like that went down.

Or its just the US being inept which is way more likely.

Chances are it is the US being inept.

Which is better for the region and US interests? A government put in places that's largely friendly to the USA and it's interests. Or chaos?

Honestly, with the Lithium deposits in Afghanistan? Chaos. Letting China get their mitts on it is a terrible idea for the world economy, better to have chaos than stability with a government able to properly function.

I have not read too deeply on this so my knowledge is pretty light. I know about the trillions worth of minerals and I remember a while back reading that the Chinese were mining copper (MCC I believe was the firm) but they had to shut down due to bandits and poor infrastructure.

What I'm curious of is if China were to build a system of roads and rail (a huge task) to get the minerals would they be able to maintain security?

When I was there at the tail end of 2002, I escorted the USGS during their mineral survey, and there is a shit ton of rare earth metals, as for the value? Dunno.

At this point I don't think it really matters. With salt based solid state batteries about to be commercially viable, the need for rare earth metals such as lithium will drop precipitously as most of them are going into batteries/ energy storage.

China is quickly become a threat to world wide security and being able to keep them occupied with a violent, turbulent border will help delay that.

Or, as I've read, leaving all that equipment there and further chaos could just be a convenient excuse for the US to send back troops in full force as the war mongers have to sell their wares of death and destruction.

This is the first I’ve heard of salt based batteries. I’ll read into that

If recent history tells me anything your last paragraph is front in the minds of many pulling the levers of our government, unfortunately

Leave the wild speculation and conspiracy theories to Joe Rogan and Alex Jones. That shit will rot your brain.

2

u/dankbuttersteez 21d ago

Not sure this one is all that wild.

The problem with conspiracies is that some one always gives up the goods. Some is always going to see a way to benefit themselves by spreading the secret.

You can knock Alex Jones for sure, but Joe Rogan? Nahhhhhh that's a bit much.

I had to stop listening to his show because his desire to believe in dark conspiracies makes everyone dumber for hearing them.

Lol trump penned the whole thing. Must be rough getting owned by simple facts.

8

u/jbwhite42 21d ago

yeah, it's messed up he didn't go against Trump's plan to pull out

6

u/probably2embarrassed 21d ago

This Trump pull out has been Stormier than others.

-3

u/myheadsonfire69 21d ago

Why is this on Trump? I am sure Trump would have not pulled out like this, leaving arms n shit. Joe Biden, the man you voted for and in love with, did one of the worst things a president could do. Just because the Taliban "looks" officially military. Doesn't mean that the Taliban is safer. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy.

Hey. For funsies I’ll answer you like you are seeking a real answer. The fact is both Trump and Biden both suck on this one because they believe the same thing (if you’ll please note). Both Trump’s June plan and Biden’s August plan cut and run and buddy fucked our allies.

You guys must be famished. I mean, get whatever sustaining ego dew you can lick off of this situation; but for best results, continue to forget the Taliban negotiations and that Trump was planning to do just this exact fucking thing had he not lost his second election.

2

u/LuciusQuintiusCinc 21d ago

Exactly, both suck.

You know Trump made a side deal with the Taliban and didn't invlude the Afgan President right? He literally negotiated with terrorists.

You are aware he (Trump) agreed to leave and also free 5000 Taliban prisoners right? They freed 5000 enemies on the word of the Taliban...

You already know that Trump chose a date even earlier than when we actually left?

You must remember that he abandoned the Kurds, our allies, while he was in office?
