There is a valid reason to induce. Rant
I have noticed that there is SO much fear mongering and dismissal of induction circulating on social media. Instagram accounts are constantly outlining the risks of inductions, and quite often degrading doctors who provide the advice. Touting reasons like “they just want to enjoy their Christmas holidays.”
The truth? There are several evidence based reasons why doctors choose to induce. Mainly, maternal and baby morbidity and mortality increase with each week after full term.
Now hear me out, I believe that each person has every right to refuse induction and weigh the risks. What I don’t think is fair, is presenting induction as a negative, risky choice without representing the other side of the equation equally.
Is there a chance labour will be more painful with induction? Yes. Is there a greater likelihood you will require an epidural or c-section? Yes. Are there a million valid reasons why your doctor still may suggest it you? Yes.
Don’t listen to everything on the internet friends.

Yes! All of the women on my mom's side had emergency c sections, so it's likely I'll need one as well. I'd have died at birth if my mom had gone against her doctors and given birth naturally. So many people are here today because of modern medicine, use the resources we have!
