When the vaccine and cloth masks dont prevent transmission and only reduce it than it makes it about personal risk.

And even then when youre unvaccinated your risk is .23% and when vaccinated it's less than .01%.

If you are concerned about hospitalization and long term effects than get vaccinated. That's on you.

So you agree masks reduce the spread, you just don’t care about getting others sick, got it. You are just a selfish individual who can’t be bothered with an minor annoyance to help others, got it.

Not everyone can be vaccinated, they aren’t 100%, etc. You’ve heard all this, but you just don’t care about others, or so little you can’t be bothered to wear a mask.

Got it.

No, that's not what I said. I said that I could get vaccinated and still wear a mask and still get people sick. It's up to that other person to ensure they are protected and take on their own risks.

But the odds of getting people sick are dramatically reduced if you wear a mask (so you don't sneeze/cough all over people) or are vaccinated (so you basically have no symptoms, so you sneeze/cough all over people).

It's just about personal responsibility. It's about societal responsibility, and having to suffer some minor inconveniences for the greater good.

The chances of you giving it to someone else are far lower than they would be if you were unmasked and unvaccinated. And you do realize that kids under 12 can’t get the vaccine, right? So it’s not “up to them” to ensure they’re protected, other than wearing a mask in public; they literally can’t get the vaccine which is why every adult should be vaccinated if possible, to ensure they are reducing the spread and attempt to help keep the kids and immunocompromised folks safe.

Not with the delta variant. The vaccines are apparently very ineffective at preventing transmission. That's why some states are seeing peaks higher now with 60%+ vaccinated than we saw last summer/fall.

There has been an average of 200-250 pediatric deaths a year from COVID and the CDC has made it clear that children are at a higher risk of the flu than COVID.

Yes, I am aware of the delta variant spreading across both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. This doesn’t at all mean people should not get vaccinated or stop wearing masks.

And while I agree that deaths in children are very low, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to prevent kids from getting sick. Child COVID cases have a five-fold increase over the past month - there were roughly 38,000 new cases the week ending July 22nd, and nearly 204,000 new cases as of August 26th. We don’t know all the long term effects, but the ones we know about are not good, and I am guessing much worse for a young child whose body is still growing.

At the end of the day, people who can, but don’t want to get the vaccine, are hurting other people around them whether they realize it or not.

I never said people shouldn't get vaccinated. I said it's a personal choice and a personal responsibility

Not if the other people are vaccinated.
