After almost 1000 hours I just found out that you can get a new Gildegreen sapling and you can save everyone in the Eldergleam sanctuary by just talking to Maurice and following his lead. How cool is this?

Whenever I do the sappling it looks identical to the tree as if I chose the sap

It’s because the quest is bugged. If you choose the sapling it does grow, but the old big tree doesn’t despawn. You can see the branches of the sapling clipping out about halfway up the big tree.

I started my recent save on my switch but I almost wish I’d done it on PC so I could get the mods that fix the bugs because it drives me mad every time I walk past it in Whiterun.

So it’s still bugged on the switch version as well? Restoring the original tree with the sap outcome of the quest is probably the better overall choice then for the Switch version right?

I guess it depends which ending you prefer lore-wise, but yes if you’re worried about how the tree will look afterwards!

Can’t believe they haven’t patched these bugs out between rereleases
