Why did they take that away!!!

It was actually fucking disgusting and unsanitary. Anyone who’s ever worked at the Spur knows

Managed three Spurs across 8 years; can confirm.

best boost for your immune system, anybody that ate from Salad Valley never got sick, since Spur removed Salad Valley I started getting flu, and even Covid

Economically unviable.

Worked at 2 Spurs during this time, loved it and a Spur burger is always my first meal whenever I come back to visit.

Just shows how much the Rand has been devalued over the years...

As always with inflation the issue is whether wages kept pace with inflation, not that inflation itself took place.

Yeah, what he said...

What year is this from?

I am going to guess about 1988 or so.

I also just saw that Spur started in 1967!

Def before 1991, because it was before VAT. Says 'excludes sales tax'.

u/rockstarsheep Durbs_Ek_Se 17d ago

Oh wow! I forgot that. So, somewhere in the late 80’s and before 1991. VAT came in quite late. The prices seem to be from around then, from what I can recall.

I only remember when VAT started cos I was a week-end Checkers cashier and in matric that year!

Hahaha. I was working at Spar - and also in matric in ‘91! 😂

Yassie old balies alert here!

u/rockstarsheep Durbs_Ek_Se 16d ago

Jirre!

Don't worry ... one day you too will enter the ballie phase. I am in denial; a little.

Happy Sunday, bliksem! ;-)

Where does time?

Did you have a part-time at one of our illustrious retailers?

Good point. When I started at the Spur in 1993, there was Tex Mex on the menu and the prices were higher than this, but not dramatically so.

Must have been late 80s, because in the early 80s there was still a mixed grill on the menu.

Ah man, I worked at the Spur in 94 and 95, this takes me back.

The last time someone posted an old menu all hell broke loose on the sub. Lol good luck!!

The bottomless coffee. The server hated us.

I’m Minnesotan! What’s the Minnesota Spur?

Every spur has a different American sort of name

u/Tokogogoloshe 17d ago

Late 80s. We didn’t use Rands in the 40s.

I miss going to Spur without someone trying to steal your children.
