We're in need of more moderators, apply within! Mod Post

EDIT: No longer taking further replies, but continuing to evaluate the existing ones. Thank you for applying!

Howdy everyone! The r/technicallythetruth team has its hands a bit full trying to keep up with the moderation queue here, so we're looking for volunteers to join the team, remove rule-breaking content, and help keep the community clean.

Some common rule-breaking scenarios are described below. As a moderator, you can help keep this community free of...

  • Posts that are just the truth, not a technical truth, otherwise low-effort truth statements. This place isn't just for true things or opinions.
  • Irrelevant memes. This place isn't just for any meme, it must be a technical truth of some kind.
  • Reposts within 2 months - they tend to be fairly frequent here.
  • Posts with effortless titles. C'mon y'all can do better than "TTT".
  • Content related to politics - there are better places for that sort of thing.

Tired of seeing those things? As a moderator, you'll be able to remove them!

If you are interested in becoming a moderator for r/technicallythetruth, please provide an answer to the following questions in the comments below:

  1. What do you like about r/technicallythetruth?
  2. What do you feel needs improvement on r/technicallythetruth?
  3. What do you bring to the table as a new moderator?
  4. Do you have any prior moderation experience? This isn't required.
  5. Are you willing to join a Discord server for moderation discussion?

Thank you for your interest, I look forward to having more hands on deck to help out here! If your profile and responses speak to us, expect a follow up discussion some time soon!

  1. It’s a place where smartassery is praised for the wit and humor it brings. A much needed semantic respite from the day to day indifference and disgust toward smartasses like myself.
  2. It’s popularity is it’s own downfall. More people equals more posts and more likely divergence from the core values of the subreddit. We don’t need to become r/holup, or yet another meme subreddit. Staying in our lane has gotten us this far, and when you drift away from your lane in a busy street, bad things happen for all involved.
  3. For one, extra manpower, and two, I’m a long time semantics fan. I’ll spend my time researching etymology of phrases, making puns, and just generally being a smartass to my closest friends and family. So if there’s uncertainty about semantics, I’d be more than happy to assist.
  4. I am an active mod on r/Narumitsu, a teeny tiny sub for shipping Narumitsu. I am one of two mods on the subreddit, so I am well versed in both communicating with other moderators to make a big decision and knowing when I can reasonably take things myself.
  5. Hell yeah

u/Scratch137 Jul 01 '21

I find it somewhat hard to believe that you guys have 30+ moderators already and still can't manage to filter out the low-quality, unfitting posts. It's all I've been seeing from this subreddit lately.

Much of the mod team, myself included, have gotten a lot more busy with life since years ago when we first joined the team, we can’t stay on top of things as well as we used to. For example, I no longer have the advantage of tons of free time that being a college student provides. I can still mod today, just not as much as I used to be able to, and unlike the team, the subreddit itself saw not a slowing in activity but an increase. The combination of these 2 factors means even a 30 strong team of volunteers finds itself struggling to keep up with all the posts.

u/Avieshek Jul 19 '21

Won’t bots help, like discord?

1

u/Tornado9797 I'm Tralse Jul 19 '21

They already are, with the quantifiable rules either way, but they still require manual review from the team before acting.

1

u/Avieshek Jul 19 '21

I have an idea, why not elect ‘experts’ as I’ve heard in the last few days and gradually promote them to mod if need be as in with GoForGold subreddit.

Is there an age requirement?

Hi Tornado... I've been combing online since pre-net days. I ran a 2 line BBS (wares and multiplayer games - barren realms, LORD, etc...) I'm fairly new to reddit but no stranger to online and it's smug, infinitively crap-idiot level posting balloons. I've been online alot lately and thus sucked back into the reddit vacuum of weird, wired and WTF posting. As I stumbled across this subreddit, it occured to me this is right up my alley. I'm currently almost done alpha dev research and authority admin stuff for my online news hub/citizen journalism app (Relnuz) - ( www.relnuz.info) check it out... the understanding is the corporate news / media broadcast has become a bloated falsity of projected crap. Truth, Verifiability, Appropriateness and Informative Value are mostly if not all missing these days..... feel free to kick back if I'm wrong. 😇

I go on reddit pretty often recently, I think I could help fix this problem :D

u/Left-Increase4472 Jun 30 '21

I love ttt because it always gives me a couple laughs when I need it…

I think that there are too many reposts here, but not much else has to be improved much

I bring another set of hands that wants the server to stay great, and I can be on for at least one or two hours every day during summer…

I have mod experience on discord servers, but not Reddit before

I would join a discord for it

What do you like about r/technicallythetruth? It exists (it is hilarious)

What do you feel needs improvement on r/technicallythetruth? Everything that needs improving (JK nothing needs improving)

What do you bring to the table as a new moderator? A moderator (and record-breaking modmail reply speed)

Do you have any prior moderation experience? This isn't required. Yes, on reddit. ( r/darknet and r/IrrationalMadness)

Are you willing to join a Discord server for moderation discussion? I have to. (Yes)

3

u/Thelurker_1 Jul 02 '21

I like the smartass humour of the sub

80% of posts on this sub are reposts and there occasional political posts that get 10k+ upvotes before being removed.

I would help remove all the low quality posts and reposts from this sub

I don't have any moderation experience

I might be willing to join a discord server

u/Dismal-Kiwi4991 Jul 05 '21
  1. it has funny posts and people being smart butts
  2. reposts are a problem and its starting to get less popular imo

  1. We can all be smart assess together.
  2. We’re going strong as is but we do need to keep more on point.
  3. A broken sleep schedule.
  4. On discord yes, on Reddit no.
  5. Yes. (Yes it a low effort submission but as I said i have broken sleep schedule and it 3:17 AM so I just felt like why the hell not)

Hiya. Long time lurker here, applying for the job!

  • I like the idea. The content on this sub helps fuel my smart ass nature in everyday situations.
  • Generally what seems to be the problem in every sub based on a very specific idea. There will always be low quality content, reposts, and just plain lazy people who don't feel the need to read the rules before posting. Not particularly the subreddit's fault, but it can be said that it's the members that make a quality forum. Even though as a moderator my job would be mostly removing said content, I'd like to at least try to steer the community away from that end and towards more through-thought interaction.
  • See above answer!
  • Very little. I am a moderator on r/jettatdi, which isn't very active compared to bigger subreddits. -Of course!

4

u/dramasutra2020 Jun 28 '21

Hello, I looking to apply!
1. I like that it helps with my indecisiveness. Instead of worrying about whether something is true or not, I just go with the middle ground.
2. I think reposts are a huge problem with larger subreddits. I think that's something I can start on. The other is low quality content. I'd have to ask the other mods if I get added to see what they think is considered low quality, but I think as subreddits grow larger, the quality of the content needs to be carefully monitored.
3. I like to suggest long-term ideas as well as solve issues at the core (ban problematic users, automod, etc).
4. Yes, I mod a few such as cringetopia and makemesuffer.
5. Absolutely!

1

u/Wannabedankestmemer Jun 29 '21

Helooooooo lurker here

1.I like this subs posts, it's funny

  1. This sub needs spam(reposts) removal, new themes etc.

  2. Good at making automod, making themes and I'm very much active on reddit

4.I'm a mod of r/SuddenlyCommunist and r/Sovietmemes (Not political! only satire)

  1. Okie dokie!

I'll hope to join the mod team!

1

u/leoar23nuevo5 Jun 29 '21

im looking to apply for mod

1-seeing the TRUTH cuz its literally the truth (and funny)

2- Spam, Reposts

3- I Would act quickly since im active almost all the time

4- Sadly no.

5- probably

1

u/TheMysteriousKokichi Jun 30 '21
  1. It’s funny and taking things literally is one of my favorite forms of humor.

  2. There a lot of bad titles. If you can’t think of one, just put the TTT in the title.

  3. I have decent amount of free time with very little to do and therefore can just browse and check for rule violations whenever I have a few minutes.

  4. Not really. I mod a tiny subreddit called r/RoyalFrigate, but haven’t had to do much because it has way more mods than it needs

  5. Sure.

1

u/Robo-Guardian TTT Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

Hey. I'm very interested.

  1. The content when you think about it is technically the truth and that is hilarious
  2. Maybe to add a bit more description to the rules, removing unrelated posts, add a wiki, etc.
  3. I can help make sure that there will be quality in every post
  4. Yeah I do. I mod r/IrrationalMadness and r/portraits as head mod
  5. I will if needed

1

u/Apo_Roblox Jul 01 '21

Hello there, I'd like to apply.

What do you like about r/technicallythetruth?

I like that this community hasn't got low-effort memes at all.

What do you feel needs improvement on r/technicallythetruth?

Maybe some of the rules, for example the repost rule should be extended even to 6 months.

What do you bring to the table as a new moderator?

Helping the subreddit stay original and with helping by correctly applying the rules.

Do you have any prior moderation experience? This isn't required.

On Discord, yes.

Are you willing to join a Discord server for moderation discussion?

For sure, why not.

1

u/dfdfdfddaww Jul 01 '21 edited Jul 09 '21

1.What do you like about r/technicallythetruth?

I like the truth part always makes me laugh and makes me feel smart too lol.

2.What do you feel needs improvement on r/technicallythetruth?

There are many aspects r/technicallythetruth can improve in, for instance, it would be great if y'all can send us a notification for any posts that creates a lot of traction so that I could just keep an eye on it, in that way if it breaks any rules(which happens a lot) we can simply remove the post.

3.What do you bring to the table as a new moderator?

I spend a lotta time on this sub so I guess it would be great for y'all to have me and I sort by new or rising most of the time so I can remove posts fast if they violate rules.

4.Do you have any prior moderation experience? This isn't required.

yes, I mod 2 small subs( r/portraits and r/YouTubeChannel) although there isn't much to mod in there but I definitely have some experience modding.

5.Are you willing to join a Discord server for moderation discussion?

of course, I am willing!

1

u/I_cank_spell Jul 02 '21

I love being a smart ass There is not much but we need not to be memes I believe that if you have me there will be less memey posts No Yes Now there are many options and I may not be the best pick but by far not the worst and I hope I will be considered for the job

1

u/biiingo Jul 02 '21
  1. I like the sense of hilarity and irony. I like that it's a little bit niche, but not so specific that nothing fits. The proper content is well-defined.
  2. Removal of posts that absolutely don't fit here. There are an increasing number of them. Honestly, other than that, it's a pretty good community.
  3. I've moderated large forums before. I tend to sort by rising, so I catch a lot of the content that is getting attention even if it's in the wrong place.
  4. Yes. Not on reddit, but I've been a primary moderator on large vBulletin platforms in the past.
  5. Yes. I use discord all day already.

1

u/RevolutionaryBase652 Jul 02 '21 edited 23d ago
  1. I love the emphasis on being a smartass, as everyone else complains about it.
  2. I’ve seen too many reposts, low effort, and non technical truths.
  3. Vigilant moderation, extra manpower, and a hatred of reposts/low effort.
  4. I moderate grandpa joe is innocent (the sub isn’t really pro grandpa joe) CommunismReRises (satire)
  5. I don’t have discord, but I can get it if needed Edit: I’ve been reporting bad posts to help you out, clean up the sub, and give a sample of my work.

1

u/AdZi12 Jul 03 '21

1: I love this subreddit because It's just funny. I would say it's the exact topic of memes that I like, also the posts here are not the highest quality due to what you said, but much higher than some other meme subreddits. And hell, just makes me laugh even after a decent amount of time scrolling

2: There is a need to filter out the non-truth, spam and low quality memes

3: I can offer a lot of time to be online due to summer break, and due to covid I don't have any big plans for this summer. Still being able to mod a lot from the start of the year due to online teaching (every boring calss I spent on this subreddit so at least let's make something useful from it ) And even if things get better in the covid area I still have time after, before and while normal school. So yeah, mainly being online a lot and not getting bored from this subreddit even after an hour of scrolling :)

4: I have a little moderation experience. A friend of mine had a Discord server about a VR game, and there I was a moderator (around 300 people where in that server, there were two mods)

5: Yeah

1

u/Nomie83619 Jul 03 '21
  1. Well first of all, I like this sub for its straight forward “content” and it’s ability to be as fun as r/puns but it is just different. This sub is one of my first joined sub when I started Reddit, it held a special place in my heart when I am bored or in school, that is what I like about it

2.there has been too much reposts lately, and I feel like there is a better way to stop all this with a simple rule

  1. Well, I can monitor this sub and help other moderators( that is the basic reason why I sign up)

  2. Sure, but I do like when it is in weekends tho :)

Thx for looking and cheerio.

u/Adventurous_Yam_5178 Jul 04 '21

1.That some things on it are funny and is a good ending to a bad day 2. I feel that the moderation needs improvement on one hand they are good but it is not cool when I see the same truth (that is quite bad) 4 times when I do top today 3.another hand to help you guys 4. No I don’t 5. Sure

1

u/Less-Search4230 Jul 05 '21
  1. The moderation team is quick onto non-related posts
  2. There are still large amounts of facts, as opposed to things that are technically true
  3. I would be a very responsive moderator, answering any question users have
  4. Not on reddit, I am a moderator on a Facebook page
  5. Yes

1

u/mariobenis Jul 05 '21

I hope this sub gets cleaned revolutionary as soon as possible

1

u/0pjac Jul 05 '21

1 It was a really creative idea and the rhings i find just looking throught it. 2 the amount of work that goes into the posts 3 you would have another mod :/ 4 no l dont have any 5 Yes, I can join a discord server

  1. Funny, and its moderators actually do stuff about rule breaking
  2. Like you said, more moderators to keep this sub reddit from going down hill (like r/hol'up)
  3. I'm not going to lie, what I will bring will be like what most moderators already brought, keeping rule breakers out.
  4. No, I have never once been a moderator
  5. Yes, this will help the moderators do communicate properly. I'm keeping this short so you can get on with the other request.

1

u/BomberMan_2035 Jul 05 '21

1) I like seeing all the funny stuff on here. I like all the people who work together in the comunity.

2) I feel like people who spam need to stop and I would help stoping that. And the comunity and posts has gone down a little bit but I think I could help share this across differnt platforms.

3) This will be my first time as one but I think I can bring a lot to the table. I'm very social and like talking, I'm hard working and like to be on reddit a lot, I can help take down people who spam a lot.

4) No, this will be my first time.

5) Yes, I will be very happy to!

I hope you contact me! Thank you!

  1. its a very unique and humorous subreddit that always makes me laugh whenever i browse it.The content on the front page never disappoints which is why i like this subreddit

2.The subreddit is very well modded currently and the posts that reach the front page are related to the subreddit most of the time and is oc for the most part.there are some reposts and posts that are not exactly ‘technically the truth’ that reach the front page sometimes and that’s something that could be changed and improved upon

3.i’m an active reddit user and moderator.i’ve been in this community for more than a year now and i’m familiar with all the rules and what qualifies as technically the truth and what doesn’t.i can mod for atleast 5-6 hours a day and help out the mod team as much as i can and keep the rule breakers out.

4.yes.current subreddits i mod are r/pewdiepiesubmissions,r/roastme,r/ksi,r/holup,r/familyguy,r/shitposting and some other smaller subreddits.

4.yes.joining a mod discord server is always very helpful and i’d be more than willing to join

  1. I enjoy the technical truths because i have always had a place in my heart with loopholes and technical truhs are usually loopholes. i also love the witty nature of technical truths
  2. i feel there is an overflow of members to keep up with and now we see more off-topic posts.
  3. i have lots of free time due to being a freelancer, so i bring a bit more moderation
  4. i have been a discord moderator for my friends discord server, sadly thats all my experience
  5. yes i am more than willing to join a discord server

  1. Well I personally love to just scroll through the posts on this sub. There are a lot of really funny posts here. I usually find myself laughing (a lot).
  2. I believe there is always a yin and yang. While there are a lot of funny posts, there are karma whores and reposters. people who just want to get upvotes by posting things they found funny and editing it just a tiny bit to trick the bots.
  3. I have a lot of free time on my hands and am not very busy. This allows me to scroll through the posts and find tired submissions. I am also able to communicate properly with mods as well as the members of this sub.
  4. I currently am a repost hunter for r/dankmemes and was a previous moderator on r/memes. this means i have experience. these are quite popular subs and therefore a lot of reposts and karma whores.
  5. sure.

1

u/tootpuff Jul 08 '21

  1. This is a brilliant community with people who understand sarcasm and have there meme eyes opened.
  2. I feel the consistency needs to be improved. For example I sometimes see the same image, meme, etc. but with a different title all uploaded by the same person.
  3. I would be able to assist with monitoring people behavior on the subreddit. Such as comments, posts, and overall mood. I would be able to dig into situation where maybe some investigation would be required.
  4. I have no former experience in moderation but I am willing to learn to the fullest extent.
  5. I would join a discord to assist with the moderation of this subreddit.

  1. I enjoy the humour Because of how it’s a form of the truth that is still so funny

  2. I feel that some of the posts are more like r/me_irl so it’s more “this is relatable” then “well technically”

  3. I am on this sub all the time and I have a pretty good idea of the types of jokes that are meant for this sub

  4. I do not

1: people will be plain ass dumb but still be funny and it gets a laugh out of me. 2: the viewing of things. A lot of the things that are funny are deep down where people normally dont look and a daily pinned posts could be cool. Also, we dont want to stray too far off the path and just turn into a meme subreddit. 3: I am a honest and truthful person and also i am addicted to Reddit so i could moderate often 4: nothing on reddit but a little bit on discord i vas the trusted moderator that people could come to. 5: why not?

1

u/TheFleshGordon Jul 15 '21

1) I love the subtle hilarity that comes with TTT 2) Any issue I can think of with the sub, more moderation would address. 3) I could bring needed available time to the table as a new moderator 4) No 5) Yes

1

u/depressedassshit Jul 16 '21 edited 29d ago

1 it’s a place where rather than being called an asshole for saying the truth you fit in with the community. It also helps give ideas as to how to respond to people on other subreddits

2 needs to be less people posting random things that don’t fit in with the sub. Once it got big enough many people found they could use this sub to get tons of karma so they post random things constantly

3 nothing special, just someone who likes reddit and specifically this subreddit

4 well technically I’m a mod of r/holup Not anymore I complained they weren’t doing a good job keeping the sub moderated and they removed and banned me…

5 yes I would be willing to join the discord server

Something I enjoy about r/technicallythetruth is how nice it is to read on. It is a good down time and relaxer when feeling off the wall a little bit.

I think some people need to post more about what this subreddit is used for.

I bring new views and ideas to the table as well as help looking out on the subreddit

I do not have any prior experience

yes! I love talking to people and sharing ideas.

  1. I love that this is a place that embraces satirical memes that have a double meaning.
  2. The largest problem that I've noticed in this sub is that users are just randomly posting memes here that don't fit with this sub's theme.
  3. I would bring moths of experience as a mod of several wallstreetbets related subs one of which I started called r/NAKDstock which has gained tens of thousands of members and millions of views since January 2021 when I created it.
  4. This is explained in #3.
  5. Absolutely, I am already an active member in several other sub's Discord Servers.

1

u/BowiePro Jul 22 '21

1, I like TTT because the posts can be funny and enjoyable. I often scroll through TTT for some good laughs, which I don't get with

2, reposts. The top post on hot currently is literally in the subreddit banner. There is also a lot of content that is not even TTT or low effort. This is something the sub can work on.

3, I can be active and help enforce the rules of the subreddit when there are not a lot of people online.

4, I am an active moderator on r/osugame, which has over 250k members.

5, Of course!

  1. I think it is mainly just the funny things people bring up and the funny conversations we have, I like that people come down to this subreddit for a good laugh

  2. I think one good thing about the subreddit is staying on topic, I hate scrolling through here and there are self promotions and trolls and that type of thing, they are very irritating and with the smaller moderator group it is understandable, and I think I could help out this community.

  3. I think I could eliminate that problem I talked about in the second point, I also feel like I have some cool ideas that we could use to make the subreddit easier to use and more enjoyable. Like I believe that we should have more feedback, like a pinned post all about sending in ideas and feedback! (I know there is modmail but I feel like it would be more accessible)

  4. I think this may be the main reason I will get rejected, I do not have any experience moderating on reddit though I own a small discord channel and a really new subreddit that has like 2 people. Though I believe this will be my first steps into moderating.

  5. Absolutely. I don't know much else to put for that question.

Thank you for the opportunity!

Is there any rules about being a mod on other subs? On 2 of my other accounts I mod a couple.

1

u/redditboy123451 23d ago
  1. What do you like about r/technicallythetruth?

I like how interesting the posts are. For example sometimes the technical truth happens in a way I have never thought have before.

  1. What do you feel needs improvement on r/technicallythetruth?

One thing I would like to improve is the fact that every once in a while (luckily not too often but it does happen here and there) Someone posts something that would be more appropriate in r/antimeme than this subreddit Here is a good example of that

  1. What do you bring to the table as a new moderator?

As a new moderator I would take my job very seriously. While I would not be so harsh that I would be abusing my powers (I would never do that) I would be strict when it comes to bad titles or non-fitting posts But I will be lax enough to keep the subreddit enjoyable.

  1. Do you have any prior moderation experience? This isn't required

I was a temporary mod on r/holup

5.Are you willing to join a Discord server for moderation discussion?

I would definitely do that

1

u/Nathanial09 22d ago

  1. It's a place where the more badass people can come and post the most badass statements, each one literally blowing my mind.
  2. Get rid of the shitty posts where it is an image, but the image is just text (example)
  3. I bring common-sense decisions where I won't need a guide on how to deal with a situation, no matter what it is I will make the right decision, quickly and calmly, which many people lack.
  4. Yes, I moderate various Discord servers, in total equal to thousands of members, such as one for a growing YouTuber, and for the /r/IceNineKills subreddit. I also moderated a subreddit for the same YouTuber as before, though I've left both. I now currently moderate a Discord server with 200 members, an anime edits community. I know this may sound like a lot of Discord moderation, but the same skillsets are required for both.
  5. Yup. As you can see, I'm adept at Discord moderation. Even if you don't promote me to the subreddit I would be happy to help out over there :)

How old to become a Mod?

1

u/Straight-Hyena-4537 16d ago

1.It is just fun to look at and I love it when I can get a laugh or two from it. 2.More mods to get rid of the posts that shouldn’t be on this subreddit and that is what this post is asking about obviously 3.Not much different than what most people would bring I would be a moderator which is what you need and I think I would be good at it 4.No 5.Yes

1

u/usingBenjamin 16d ago

I like the randomness of some of the posts and discovering funny things.

Sometimes the automod catches things that dont exist or things slip through that shouldn't.

Wayyy to much free time and plenty of experience working with either problematic users or posts/comments that break rules.

Yes.

Sure am.

1) I think it's a type of humor sub but not like all the other trash meme ones, at least not yet, that's what j don't want this to become

2) filter out the bad posts from ever reaching hot becuz I don't want this sub becoming trash

3) idk, I think this sub seems to have everything already so I guess I'm an extra set of hands

4) a lot of small ones but only major one is r/dankvideos

  1. I’m a fan of wordplay and smart alec answers, and that’s common on this subreddit.
  2. I’d probably say that reposting needs to be more enforced, or offenders suffer a penalty such as being muted for a time.
  3. That would depend. I’m someone who works well under pressure and under orders, but I can also take initiative. I am unaware of what times the current moderators are often online, but I’m online most of the day, 4 days of the week, so I may be able to fill in any gaps.
  4. No previous moderator experience, but I pick things up quickly, and there’s no better way to learn that first hand.
  5. Yes. Whether I am accepted or not, thank you for considering. If I am not, I am willing to take an unofficial role in reporting reposts and other violations of the subreddit rules.

u/Bagelmable 14d ago

What I love about r/technicallythetruth is that it is a place that is full of wit and comedic value, it has many reposts and memes that make no sense, I bring a discord mod that has experience with trolls and stuff, As stated above I have moderated on discord before but ended up leaving as I got tired of discord, no I would not be willing to have a discord confrence and would rather have one on reddit

1

u/UnironicThatcherite 12d ago
  1. The genre of humour this subreddit is aimed at is particularly funny for me. Technically correct is the best kind of correct.
  2. There are a lot of posts which hardly are TTTs, and are just generic memes/jokes. There is a need for more moderation here.
  3. Being able to clear mod queues more efficiently thanks to prior experience, helping sort out posts in /new and /rising so that the frontpage of the sub remains clean etc.
  4. Yes. I'm a moderator of an active, 30k member subreddit.
  5. Yes, I'm willing to use Discord or any other means of communication for better moderation.

  2. Nothing much. The only thing I think needs improvement is the amount of reposting. As a mod I would delete any reposts I know of.

  3. I am a hard worker and an active member of reddit.

  4. Yes. About a year and a half. This includes discord. Etc. (I have not yet been a mod in reddit.)

  5. Absolutely.

  1. I think this is pretty dang awesome concept. I spend my life in a sales role and I hear stuff all the time that’s... technically true. So looking at it in a humorous way is awesome.

  2. I’m new around these parts, but I think just better or more enforcement of guidelines. Especially political/hot topics. Maybe many are like me and come here to chill, not for more real life stressors.

  3. My two key skills are 1) grace - not everything is a knee-jerk reaction situation, and 2) organizational skills. I own a business where automation and organization are life and death.

  4. I don’t, but I’d like to.

  5. Currently on two discord channels (one for a game and one for investing) so adding a 3rd is easy.

This is a great reddit community, really good and funny content that doesn't require a lot of improvement. I just want to be a moderator to keep it this way, and I do not have any experience as one.

1

u/Chasith 6d ago

Hey mods! I'd love to help.

1: I like this subreddit because It's just funny, It makes everyone look smart (Most of the time) & it always manage to give me laughs when I need it.

2: Mostly the subreddit need to get rid of low quality content, reposts, hate comments, and lazy people who don't feel the need to read the rules before posting. So basically what I'm saying is I do appreciate what you guys doing for the sub but the subreddit need more moderation & of course I understand that it's the whole point of this mod post lol.

3: I'm literally active on reddit everyday & I mostly use reddit for moderating subreddits. I have plenty of free time so I can always keep an eye on the subreddit for any rule violations. also I know how to set up auto-moderators, CSS Styling and how to use markdown mode. And I really enjoy moderating subreddits so I'm pretty sure I'll spend some really good time in Mod Queue if I ever get the chance to mod r/technicallythetruth .

4: Yes, I do have very good moderation experience. I do currently mod for some big Celebrity subreddits. To name a few - r/billieeilish r/ArianaGrande r/dualipa r/kendalljenner r/KDA r/TheWeeknd

5: Yes, absolutely.

1

u/zxchyR 6d ago

I'm making a better submission because my last one was too low effort.

  1. TTT is a place where people can embrace smartassery and I love it. I come on here everyday to see the new posts of people just y'know, speaking the truth, after all of that. Mod is a position I would love to help out the community with all their needs and delete posts which break the rules.

2.The amount of reposts is stupidly annoying, some people are going as even far enough to take from other subreddits which have no relation in the slightest to TTT. I am offering to come here everyday and improve that.

  1. What I bring to the table as a moderator is me always having access to reddit. I never put my phone down and are always ready to open reddit and start looking at posts.

  2. I infact do have prior mod experience. I have been a moderator in multiple discord servers in the past and I'm ready to try moderating a subreddit.

  3. I use discord just as much as reddit so that's 100% yes.

I hope this is good enough!!

1

u/zhaDeth 6d ago

I really like this place but I can't stand the posts that are just literally the truth especially when its the same thing repeated twice like who are the best police officers ? police officers.. yeah I GUESS its technically true but I thought it was supposed to not be obvious that it's true at first glance or something.. or is there a reddit for that ?

Like that one lately: what comes to mind when you think of mexico. Mexicans.. Do you need someone in the back of the class raising their hand saying "but technically, if you think about it, it makes sense, it's true" ? No it's obvious and doesn't make you think at all. Sure it's kinda funny that he goes with such a pointless answer and it wasn't what the question was expecting but in no way does it have to pointed out that it is technically the truth so it has no reason to be here.

Something tells me the mods team isn't thinking the same way but if you actually do and just don't have time to remove these, I would gladly help with that in particular.

I have a bit of mod experience but not on reddit and can join a discord

1

u/BlackEntity2 5d ago

So how do I apply?

u/BlackEntity2 5d ago

I don't see the technically the truth in this post dear mod and you've technically broken your own rule with this one.

Mods don't pick this guy unless you want to torpedo your sub into the ground by inundating it with reposts. They're an "active poster" in that they find old popular posts and post them to karma farm. So if you want your sub to be more than a bot and karma farmer playground pick someone else.

2

u/1dayillgetfrontpage Jun 29 '21

Hahaha was just going through their post history after looking at an unrelated post and thought this was a karma farma bot (every single post has a minimum of a couple thousand likes). Looked at the comments trying to figure out what their deal was which brought me here. Anyways I guess my comment here is kinda pointless. Imma see myself out..

2

u/gorpadorp Jun 29 '21

Nah it’s definitely valid. Their comment was massively downvoted then suddenly they used alt accounts to upvote it haha. Definitely a farmer, though probably not a bot. Someone with that kind of skew would be an awful mod.

1

u/gorpadorp Jun 29 '21

Out of interest, where did you find this image?

-2

u/steamshifter Jun 28 '21
  1. I like when people say things that don’t really make sense but are technically the truth.

  2. I don’t like when people post anything besides a shitpost and act like it belongs because it has a vaguely understandable punchline.

  3. I would take down memes that aren’t r/technicallythetruth material

  4. Yes

  5. I’m not a pedophile.

A: 1. I like the fact that this part of reddit makes us laugh and gives us positive vibes! 2. I think that if there is NSFW, you should warn us on the post or tag it NSFW 3. I bring in more safety to those younger ones by posting warnings about the next posts if NSFW. 4. Yes, I do have prior moderation experience, but on my other account. 5. Yes, I am willing to join a server for discussion. Edit: #3 i will also post a small joke once in a while.

0

u/AndreasTheCoolGuy Jun 29 '21

1: I like the subreddit, because it's such a simple theme, yet people find ways to make me laugh... all the time.

2: I think we only need to improve very slight things... such as, maybe be quicker at deleting posts that are innapropriate if the AutoModerator Bot cannot do so. And also we need to make sure that posts that don't belong in the subreddit gets deleted.

3: I will be able to provide quick responses since i am active a lot.

4: no, I unfortunately don't have any Experience as a moderator on reddit

5: i would gladly join a discord server.
