If you really want to get into it, the white haired guy is Dale Dye, also known for playing Colonel Sink in Band of Brothers.
Dale Dye was a Captain in the Marines, who felt that more realism was necessary to depict combat and soldier lives in war movies, and so started a cottage industry in training the actors in those movies how to behave and operate as soldiers. He put every actor with lines in both SPR and BoB through a two-week boot camp prior to shooting, but also made sure to have a cameo in each too.
I always found it ironic that the guy responsible for giving the actors their martial training voiced a character that was against the premise of the movie SPR.
Heh, odd. I remember watching him on TGAGAAPP waaay back when, then firefly.... He'd have to look really really young for me to think he looked young (given his age at SPR).
Haha I remember watching the princess bride for the first time with my fiancée and being like “holy crap that’s the guy from NCIS!” She straight up didn’t believe me and we paused the movie to look it up and verify.
Oh, I'm guessing you saw that Newsweek article? The story about channeling his grief over his father's cancer into the role has been common knowledge for a while, but I don't think I'd heard Patinkin himself confirm it before.
