Tom Cruise was unfunny in Tropic Thunder

So I actually like Tom Cruise as an actor (another unpopular opinion?) and have seen just about everything he’s ever been in, but in TT he was so far over the top I didn’t find it funny at all, similar to a 3 year old that does something that gets a laugh and then repeats it 100 times, it got old fast. I understand the point was to be over the top but found it too on the nose. It would’ve been a much better performance had it been more subtle with a burst here and there.
