Carney can’t decide if he wants elbows up or not. In fact, he flipflops so much, he looks like hes doing the chicken dance.

I’m not sure why your so dismissive of it. It’s a heuristic that exists for a reason. Maybe you should read the wikipedia article linked above so you understand why that is.

You realise the article itself suggests that the answer to the question is in fact “no”, right? (That is to say, it agrees with Betteridges’s law.)
And that carbon capture is often pushed by the oil industry as a magic bullet?
And that we often get headlines that look an awful lot like this that are trying to push an agenda which says “Yes, it’s fine, big oil has everything under control. No need for any climate action,” right?
I’m not sure why you’re being a jackass towards people who you likely agree with.

If nobody votes for the party that actually represents their interests, then shockingly the party that represents their interests will not have a shot. It’s a self-defeating strategy.
“Strategic” voting is a long term recipe for a US-style system where there’s only room for two parties.

Maybe in theory, but liberals never reciprocate. We gave up multiple incumbent ridings to the Conservatives because people voted for Carney instead of the incumbent NDP, who were IMO better candidates.

I’d keep going with GQuuux. This is my intro to the Gundam franchise as well, and there’s a lot of back story I’m missing, but if you can tough it out and just focus on Machu and Nyaan’s story, it’ll still be pretty worthwhile. (Disclaimer, I’m only up to ep 11)

That’s what I said after they fucked us on electoral reform. Being a principled voter is the correct pragmatic decision in the long term.
ABC results in US two-party system.

I sincerely hope you learn something from this. This is the Liberal m.o. and has been for years. They’re a big business party, and don’t have typical Canadian’s interests at heart. Their most redeeming feature is that they’re not the Cons.
If you actually care about bettering the lives of typical Canadians, then look at what parties have track records of getting results. (Hint: A lot of Canadians just got dental care.)

I think studies that look at the article’s response are going to give a very different outcome than the real world result. The heuristic exists because a lot of news is overhyped halfsense trying to generate clicks (or draw eyeballs in the pre-digital world). So even if the article suggests a yes answer, a no outcome is still probably more likely.
And it’s a damn shame too, because it’s a very cool looking symbol. Stupid Nazis ruin everything. >:(

Let me save y’all from giving the Nazi run platform an extra click. Here’s Carney’s justification which he wrote on exTwitter:
Iran’s nuclear programme is a grave threat to international security, and Canada has been consistently clear that Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
While U.S. military action taken last night was designed to alleviate that threat, the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile. Stability in the region is a priority.
Canada calls on parties to return immediately to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis. As G7 leaders agreed in Kananaskis, the resolution of the Iranian crisis should lead to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.

After Trudeau self-sabotaged electoral reform, I decided to never vote for them again until they fulfill that promise. Lying is the norm for the Liberals, so fuck em.

Could we maybe focus on infrastructure that makes people’s lives better, like robust public transportation and cycling infrastructure? Is it crazy that maybe we could focus on reducing our oil dependency before building more pipelines?

Space Brothers had the first 20 something volumes turned into a fantastic 99 episode anime, but in 2014, they caught up to the source material so stopped. It totally deserves a continuation, as there’s another ~20 manga volumes out now.

The bus driver is heard saying that they “do this every week.”
“And I don’t think there’s any problem,” they are heard saying to the parents before driving away.
Japanese Lolita fashion is pretty distanced from from Nabokov’s original conception. If this person is just dressing in that fashion, and put the sign in reference to that, I could almost understand it, and concede there might not have been anything predatory in nature intended.
But if you’re a Westerner, you should be pretty damn aware of how people might interpret it on a bus meant to transport children. Like how dumb can you be?
I suppose you’re right. It’s irresponsible to let him plead stupidity for fleecing us, when it’s all very calculated.
