All this to say, our current crop of politicians can’t be trusted to do the right thing. Although, they can be trusted to do what’s in their own self interest.

Yes it’s complicated, I agree. My perception of his presidency was that he didn’t try hard enough to get things pushed through.

I know he is a centrist so he would never have pushed for an economic agenda that’s more keynesian. I just wish he fought harder as a president. This is why I think he laid the foundation for Trump’s rightwing populism.
