  • Here is my (slightly off topic) rant.

Until the left gets a charismatic, intelligent, slightly bombastic, and passionate leader to inspire the population to truly organize and put pressure on the leadership nothing will change for the left - or it will change for the worse.

The progressive left has been leaderless since Bernie lost the primaries. He is still fighting but I feel like the left has abandoned him, and a few others, to carry the load. There is no leadership to inspire progressives to help lift his and other progressive leader’s messages up. There is no “news maker” that can get the ideals of the progressive left out to the public. And until there is someone to take up that mantle the corporate Democrats will do fuck all other than complain a bit, because they don’t feel any pressure to actually do anything substantial.

  • but the reality is that the vast majority of people don’t agree with many of the views that are overrepresented on left-wing social media platforms like Lemmy

Is this true? Or is this just “people you know” and what the media you consume tells you?

If it is true then adding in the sources of where you got this information would really help your argument. Hell you may actually get more people to agree with you if you have solid evidence of what you said.

If this is just what “feels” right to you or if this is just something that other people told you is right then maybe look into that and see if reality lines up with what you are feeling and hearing.

  • Nothing kills the joy of a hobby faster than trying to make a living out of it.

It’s one of the symptoms of the SYSTEM when a kid shows talent and/or strong interest in a thing, it could be most anything, the adults that this child looks to for guidance push them to make this interest and/or talent into a career. And as soon as that suggestion takes root in that child’s head then it just time before the hobby/talent is abandoned with regret and sadness.

This may not be universal but it’s not rare either - as you know first hand.

Hope one day you can, if you want, get back to what drew you towards playing music in the first place and I hope you find joy in it for nothing more than that.
