It'll just devolve from harsh lessons and fight porn into people who confuse abuse for lessons. It's probably for the best that it won't.

I would think public figures do it for liability reasons. They want to spread the message, and everyone gets it, but if they explicitly say "hey go kill everyone so we can keep power and claim it's for your country," they are directly at fault.
I noticed in the last decade, the people who follow these public figures increasingly talk the same way. They're usually bad at it (ie saying "gun owners will start a bloodbath" while trying to be subtle), but mimic they way they talk.
I like to call it "'Those people' talk." People who use the phrase "those people" are trying to skirt around directly saying something racist and being held accountable, but everyone knows what it means.

The easiest explanation would be the summaries for each
Shariat
Islamic canonical law based on the teachings of the Koran and the traditions of the Prophet (Hadith and Sunna), prescribing both religious and secular duties and sometimes retributive penalties for lawbreaking. It has generally been supplemented by legislation adapted to the conditions of the day, though the manner in which it should be applied in modern states is a subject of dispute between Islamic fundamentalists and modernists.
and
Caliphate
A caliphate or khilāfah is an Islamic state under the leadership of an Islamic ruler with the title of caliph, a person considered a politico-religious successor to the Islamic prophet Muhammad and a leader of the entire Muslim world (Ummah).
Both are theocracies (religious governments), but they are just different implementations. I may be wrong in the following explanation so please take with a grain of salt:
The former is the rule described by the Koran but to be adapted for modern times through legislation, the latter is more like if the Pope ran their nation and their leadership would presumably adapt with times.
The odds any theocracy will adapt with the time is... very doubtful... and lack many good examples.

Those 1.1 billion are active users, and the active engagement per download stats are unusually high. I think that's way more important, given that engagement and activity on social media is a better measure of success for that industry.
For reference, the app store wide average retention rate is 6% after 30 days
My consumer apps (not social media) have about a 5% retention rate
My business-to-business apps (also not social media) have a ~30% retention rate
TikTok has an 75% retention rate
Facebook has a 69% retention rate (2015 stat, sorry I'm trying to find a reliable 2020/2021 source)
That 6% over 30 day difference is massive, and Facebook will never close that gap unless TikTok just ceases to exist. If that retention rate scales, TikTok would need half as many downloads to surpass Facebook's current active users, and honestly it's just a matter of time unless needed legislation affects both platforms.

I'm not that deeply invested in it but I do need more podcasts. Got a top recommendation?

They have 1.1 billion as of February, and the platform has only gotten bigger in the last half year. It has over a billion downloads on the Google Play store alone (which supplies app downloads up to 73% of the worldwide phone market), and that doesn't include regional/personal alternatives (such as Aptoide app store which allows you to download in countries like India) or the entire iOS market.
You're not wrong that Facebook and YouTube (both of which often come pre-installed on people's phones when purchased) are still the most widely used, but I think you're underestimating how large TikTok is.

They're not going to get them, they keep banning anyone who disagrees. I miss the old r/conspiracy that just talked about aliens and unidentified species.
Now almost 40% of NoNewNormal users are active in r/conspiracy [Source]*, and 17% of r/conspiracy users frequent NoNewNormal [Source]
* note, this is my project, but all the data was collected indiscriminately and evenly across all sampled subs. Check the homepage if you want to know what qualifies as an "active user"
EDIT: Fixed the link

It's their game they've been promoting for years. It's a 2D space MMORPG. I don't play MMORPGs so that's about all I know, but if you do it's worth checking out.

Bill Clinton also aligned further in that direction than I think a lot of people remember. He adopted many winning Republican strategies, like Reagan's "tough on crime," both of which resulted in a massive increase in the number of incarcerated non-violent felons. It did not reduce the number of crimes, because most non-violent crimes are committed by poor people and their problems were only made worse.
But now everyone remembers him as the president who cheated on his wife with a famous woman in the Oval Office, not the guy who won over Republican votes with some of Reagan's ideals and threw the democratic party further right.

My business relies on businesses like bars and dispensaries staying open, so since that couldn't be the case during the height of the pandemic, I got a retail job temporarily. It was a small store, local owners, only 5 customers a day, and I could spend about 6-8 hours in a 8-12 hour day working on other things.
But God damn it, if 1 out of those 5 people weren't the biggest pain in the ass. Every single day, one person had to be that person. "It's fake!" "I don't think masks work!"
I had a man throw a full on tantrum like a 5 year old. I told him he had to wear a mask, he said "I'll go somewhere else," and I said please do. Full meltdown, I mean this man was JUMPING UP AND DOWN STOMPING, and I had to watch this grown ass man - who definitely makes more than me - on the brink of tears and threatening me.
Some woman spit on me, which doesn't even break the top 5 while I was there.
I cannot and will not ever understand what's going on with these people. I'm glad we pivoted and that didn't last long, but I cannot imagine being someone who was working service during the entire pandemic.

Their comment isn't factual by any means. It's not even a stretch, it's a personal opinion based on nothing.
Keep going though, I'm sure you'll change my mind and the factual statistics about the good labor unions do for their members. 99% of people aren't shitty and lazy, and lying to put down something that does good is being an ass.

And you can't say the same about what the other user said? Sounds like you're just picking sides.

COMMENT 2d ago
"Both sides" isn't both sides, it's just two conservative parties, one significantly more dangerous than the other.
Since you have shown a complete and shocking lack of understanding twice, arguing with you is useless. Go be salty.

Just because you picked the other conservative party doesn't make you a special good boy.

Isn't it planned to ban foreign investors buying up empty homes? That's a much larger portion of the market than you might think.

TikTok bad
kid no attention span
The only idiot is someone who thinks this was for children and TikTok. This was edited to be rehosted without being flagged by filters, not because your idea about TikTok (which are a full minute, longer than a majority of Reddit videos) is that only idiots use it.
Grow up.

It's absolutely crazy that people's immune systems can be so weak that even a dead virus (or synthesized snippit of the protein's blueprint), used to trick our bodies into fighting the real virus, can cause damage. I couldn't imagine the severity of a "live" (active?) virus.
Healthy people who could easily handle the active virus are out denying the inactive virus because they don't think they can handle it, while going out to catch the live virus and spreading it to people who can't fight it. It's the saddest thing I think I'll ever experience in my life.
