The grab at the end was definitely a “exploring curiosity” moment.

Oh yeah, the movies entirely mangled the books; one of the main messages of the book is that we would know nothing about creatures that we cloned who had previously been extinct. They had set up a fancy sky hotel and bar where you were supposed to be able to watch the action, but they were so insanely aggressive and territorial towards each other and any other animal that they had to suspend that project, especially after several workers got broken collarbones and other injuries from the dive bombing.

I think there was shade in this spot and that’s why she wanted it, but I also agree there were other shady spots she could have pursued instead of having a meltdown.

Man, if you’re eating lunch in your car all you want is a little peace for a minute. He choose a spot near the back of the lot and he had every right to take up a little space while not doing anything to anyone.
That girl is lacking manners on top of being entitled, seems to lack respect for working class people too.

In the book they are just magnitudes more territorial than anyone could have guessed and dive bomb people with terrifying force.

P.F. Chang’s was good to me for over a decade, and it definitely has its own niche.

Try an “annotated” version of the books you want to read. Even though I have a well developed vocabulary, I STILL love annotated books as they can add historical or literary context, as well as the definitions of words to any book you are interested in reading.
Annotated Flatland is one of my favorite annotated books.

Jack Vance’s work shows up in DND a lot, I love his books. Dying Earth was just beyond amazing.

That is an entirely fair perspective. My generation essentially grew up in the embrace of major media and the internet and so we can reasonably parse what is real and what is exaggeration. I wish I could offer you some sort of rule of thumb for telling the difference, but I don’t think there’s really any heuristic that can help.
But, a general trend over the last 50 years is that many middle of the road people will say complaints of a problem are overblown, and then over time we find out that the problem was not only not overblown, it’s way worse than we realized from decades of sweeping things under the rug, so now we’re trying to, collectively, admit to things happening that seem extreme but that victims are telling us did happen. We’ve just started deeply internalizing the idea that people who are reporting problems are telling us what is actually happening and not exaggerating. Hence, VERY strong responses to statements that dismiss racism, sexual assault, and stalking. It may read as confusing outside the U.S., but it’s where we’re at as a culture currently.

Well, when you alight upon sensitive topics, like stalking and abuse, you should probably expect impassioned responses, just given the sheer number of victims of those crimes in America. It may be obnoxious, but it’s a reality Americans have to live with and it very strongly colors our perception of these sorts of conversations.

They probably assume you’re in America because that’s where this site operates from and where a plurality of their user-base lives.

“Many parents reported simply taking a pre-signed exemption off the front desk.”
“Bryan Kessler, a Venice attorney representing Busch, said the new policy unfairly raises questions about the credentials of chiropractors as medical professionals. Plus, he said the medical professionals listed in the policy are pulled from a statute that is specific to immunizations, not face masks. “
Ooooooookay.
