One of my favorite video game series, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, uses this system.
And I fucking hate it.
There are many different ways that a game could apply this mechanic, and it could work for you game, but I'll list some of the problems that I have with it in FFTA1+2.
Limits progression - A big part of FFTA is progressing through the job system, and in order to do that, you have to learn enough abilities with select jobs to reach higher tier jobs. The big problem with learning abilities from items, is that you're really limited by how many items for that class are currently available to you. You often run out of available items (and thus abilities to learn) before you meet the requirements you're working towards. This could be a way to gate progressing to advanced jobs behind story progress, but it feels shitty to me. This then leads me to my next point:
Wasted Exp - In FFTA, you gain experience towards learning abilities (ability points) from completing quests. If a character takes part in a battle and doesn't have any unmastered abilities on their equipment, those ability points are completely wasted. If you are working on a class but don't have any unmastered abilities available, those ability points are wasted. This leads to situations where you are forced to decide if you want to bring along a different character (thus splitting total exp and ability points between more characters), waste the ability points, or switch the character's class. If you're lucky you might have a class with unmastered abilities available that might make for a good secondary class, letting you use those abilities along side your main class. Other times, you may have to decide if you want to swap your melee fighter to a spell caster in order to learn new abilities. Leveling up as different class affects your stat growth, so if you do this you might end up gaining useless stats that leave you with unoptimal stats for your level.
Abilities over Stats - If you feel like you're wasting ability points when you aren't learning abilities, then why would you EVER use equipment that doesn't have abilities? This could of course be avoided by not having any, but that's not how FFTA does it. Using that strong weapon without abilities means you miss out on progressing your current job or working towards advanced jobs. I would 100% switch my weapon to one with new abilities, even if the old one I mastered had better stats. None of this would matter "late game" once you've mastered your target jobs and all the abilities you want, but that would probably be late in the game, if you even want that to be a achievable goal.
Hiding Progression Requirements - Often I would find myself needing only one more mastered ability for a job in order to unlock the next one, but have no idea what I need to do in order to find more abilities. Sometimes a weapon with new abilities would be hidden behind a quest reward for a specific side quest, or it would require bidding on items with unknown abilities. If I want to be a ninja, just let me work towards that, don't make me look up a guide on where to find that last required thief ability.
This ended up being a rant about FFTA (don't even get me started on the Law System...), but watch out for these flaws. Some of them might just be because of how I play (not wanting to "waste" ability points, etc), but if I have a problem with it, someone else might too.

On the flasks (or at least one of them) there is a note stating "If injections are skipped for prolonged periods of time, the product will age rapidly." It seems safe to assume it applies to Rose as a whole too.
I recall there being notes in the house at the beginning mentioning something about BSAA being involved in Rose's checkups, they've likely been giving her the injections as a baby. Chris' problems with the BSAA at the end of Village (or any other issue) could lead to Rose missing some injections, so we have no idea how much rapid aging she suffered, if any.

Except Bakalar is stepping up to take on a more permanent role, so that doesn't seem to be an issue.

After the update when I click on the splash screen, it goes to the black loading screen with the logo in the corner, but then pops me back out at the splash screen again. Sometimes it's real quick, sometimes it takes a while. I once got a quick glimpse of the menu screen, but then it quickly popped back to the splash screen. Playing on Steam. I tried verifying files, and it said everything was good.
Then I tried switching Steam profiles... and it got to the main menu? So it seems that somehow one account is having issues?

Yeah I've read it. I feel that I now have a much better idea of the setup for Halo Infinite. I like how 343 seems much more willing to include the books in the game canon, but I feel they still need to get better at reiterating the important stuff in the games themselves. I still need to replay Halos 4 and 5 now that I've read the Forerunner trilogy.

The rules can change at any time according to Ningguang's fancies, and when playing others, she will always follow the newest rule set that she has on hand. When she's truly feeling the spirit, she will even design new rules on the spot

I've gotten a bunch of new characters recently, and have been thinking it's time to change up my team. Playing Co-op in the event really made me feel that my current team is not up to snuff. I'm stuck in a phase where I'm afraid to waste resources on upgrading my characters if I end up not sticking with them, but don't know who else to upgrade. I was planning on using Tartaglia, but now I'm not 100% sure. Any help would be appreciated!
Currently Running: Beidou (C2), Xiangling (C1), Jean (C0), and Chongyun (C0)
Other Characters:
5 Stars: Tartaglia (C0), Keching (C0)
4 Stars: Diona (C0), Sucrose (C3), Kaeya (C1), Amber (C1), Lisa (C0), Noelle (C0), Bennett (C1), Ningguang (C1), Fischl (C1), Razor (C0), Barbara (C1), Xinyan (C1)
