So far I've only seen House and Sada, but the latter is one of my favourite films of all time. It's on the Channel, but it's my second-most wanted addition to the Collection.

Americans seem to struggle with the past participle for some reason. It's why they'll tell stories and say things like "I should've went home" instead of "I should've gone home".

I thought Karen is "talk to your manager to get them to fire you"/"fuck non-white people" lady. Women who pick the easiest way out of an issue when the easiest way out harms a fuck ton of people. That's literally Kovarian.

How does a single thing you just mentioned describe Kovarian?

Haha, that was a good one. I only got it because you said it was a one-word answer.

Even if it weren't the initial intent, it's still very apt.

How does invisibility work as a finishing move?

"FINISH HIM"
*turns invisible*
"Oh shit, where'd they go?"

I'm yet to see her in a movie where her perfornance doesn't feel that way.

I remember seeing an interview a few years ago where an American reporter was interviewing a black English athlete. She was asking him what it was like as the first African American to achieve whatever sporting achievement it was, and he cut her off and said he's not American. She then "corrected" to call him African British, and he cut her off and said he's not African. She was struggling so much with how then to rephrase her question because she couldn't say Black. He had to tell her to call him Black, it's not an offensive term, but she wouldn't do it.

I wish I could find the video, but I don't even know how to search for it.

I don't understand people who approach the internet the way you do. This is a public forum. If you express an opinion, others will likely want to discuss it. I don't see anyone at all suggesting feeling they are owed anything.

Mind you, if you see the slightest hint of discussion as 'debate', then I don't know what to say to you.

You clearly have some strong feelings, but I really don’t care enough to engage in this argument. The OP asked for people’s opinions, I gave mine. That’s the extent of my contribution.

Translation: "I obviously care about this topic, as I took the time to reply. I gave my opinion to OP, but when you posted your reply I realised I don't have an answer to your questions. So instead I am going to pretend I don't care (contrary to my very presence in this thread) and disengage now."

Feel sorry for you guys, hope you can kick Scummo out sometime soon.

Wouldn't make a difference. Both parties want and support this.

People holding a torch under their face in a haunted house-type situation is such an old trope it easily predates both of these.

25

COMMENT 11d ago

That is exactly being priced out. You had to make a compromise and get a house a little further out than you wanted prior to the pandemic because you can no longer afford houses in your preferred area.

People are having to make concessions they weren't wanting to make so that they can afford a house. I don't know what you consider being priced out, but that's exactly what is happening.

Oh, fuck off. Lockdowns and vaccination should both be working hand in hand to help combat this.

Do I really believe lockdowns work? As a South Australian, yes I do given that we got on top of our recent outbreak by doing exactly that. Obviously lockdowns are not the sole way to combat this, but anyone who thinks that the situation in NSW wouldn't have been a lot better if they locked down earlier is an absolute moron.

COMMENT 11d ago

The big difference is that the QLD government has shown that it is willing to lockdown to stop the spread. The big problem with NSW has been the inaction from the NSW govt.
