I agree that the narratives have been set and persisted and that those narratives probably aren't accurate anymore, I don't agree that it was wrong that those narratives ever existed.

Are people lauding SEC defenses as good right now? I don't think so.

COMMENT 11d ago
Yes, those numbers are much more recent. The Big12 cant play defense has been going on for years and years before that, and society hasn't really caught up to the fact that things have shifted. I don't think it was crazy, it just might not be as true as it used to be.

Of course anecdote is not data, but I remember watching Florida hold Oklahoma to 14 points in the 2008 championship, an Oklahoma team that hadn't scored less than 60 points in their last five games. Games like that go a long way to driving a narrative.

In my experience, anything good that happens to Mississippi football only is to set up further disappointment later on...so a good chunk of my money.

I'm always jealous of AYC's wednesday night sailing. They make some high quality videos documenting it every week, so many boats!

Half the battle for new sailors is just getting the jargon down. Spend some time studying all the sail controls and what they do, and just parts of the boat in general so you know where to look if someone asks you to do something.

I ran two marathons and never really recovered. Don't run a marathon is my best advice. they really got to me in differently than any other event. In training I'd do 20 milers, which of course werent easy, but that last six miles really makes a huge difference and for me, was when my body just stopped working well.

This had happened to me and my family twice. Thankfully no one was hurt.

Right now, my mortgage is only 60% of my monthly payment (and that number will get smaller every year--my mortgage is constant but taxes/insurance only get more expensive in my experience). Also, I'm about to pay $5k+ for a new air conditioner, and my garage needs a new roof. I've had to take time off work to meet with contractors. Homeownership is expensive and stressful.

The mortgage may have been cheaper, but what about taxes/insurance, and maintenance?

Maybe it's just that the country at large really doesn't care about any of the programs in CUSA. And having attended an on campus CUSA championship game, it seemed pretty obvious that the students/alumni just don't really care about their own team that much. Why should anybody pay for that if no one is going to watch?

Running clubs are most definitely a thing in America. My not too big area has tons of adult meetup groups.

Until Florida is truly ready to challenge for a championship, I am very content letting Bama dominate, especially since it foiled Georgia's chances. I don't really care too much about Alabama one way or the other.

As a season ticket holder, I'm pretty certain my (very modest) mandatory donation to the athletic department qualifies me as a booster. If just scalped tickets I wouldn't be considered a booster.
