If you know your pet well you can predict what they're going to do. Doesn't mean it's scripted, just the person saw an opportunity and was smart enough to recognize the potential humor. I've done this a lot with my dog. Often times, nothing happens and I just delete the recording, but occasionally I get a gem and it almost looks planned, but it was just a good call to start recording.

If you're going less than 100m/s like they tell you to, you should have plenty of time to slow down even if the pad is right next to the slot. I usually only speed to get to the slot quicker, then I slow down to regulation speed while docking. A trick to finding your pad is that your HUD compass will always point to it once you're inside the mail slot.

I'm sure there are other ways to find specific pads that involve memorizing station layouts but I'm too lazy to do that and have never needed to anyway lol

When the bomb goes off the first time, it releases a lot of hot gas. The gas bubble expands until it cools enough to contract again, but then it's got all that water pushing on it, so it contracts too far, heats up and expands again, causing a secondary "detonation". That can happen multiple times until an equilibrium is reached. I think it's called cavitation or is at least similar to cavitation, but don't quote me on that cause I'm not sure.
