Maybe I’m just not seeing it, but do we know the current R value?

This study just released last week breaks the participants down by trimester if you dig into the data. There are a number in the second trimester. Bottom line is they found evidence of antibody transfer in the placenta, but they still don’t know which trimester is best for transferring antibodies to baby.

Could you not just go get the shot before the 15th? It’s pretty widely available now. I got my first dose the cycle before I got pregnant and second dose at 6 weeks pregnant with no issues and only side effect was tired and sore arm. Am now 14 weeks.

Just curious - what was the reason to go for those tests?

I had read that it can fluctuate too depending on if baby is “awake” vs “asleep” in utero (higher when it’s awake and active)

Ok thanks - my mom told me I couldn’t have honey, I guess I had assumed it was one of those long-standing rules that it was a no-no for pregnant women and didn’t think to question it.

I got the Sonoline Baby Doppler and I LOVE it. Super easy to use. There are plenty of videos showing how to find the heartbeat (I found it at 11 weeks and can find it reliably now). The biggest thing to watch for is to make sure you are hearing the baby’s heartbeat and not your own. My own pulse is more to the sides and is slower, the baby is usually more in the middle and when you find it, if you keep the probe still, it might even swim away from it so the heartbeat will fade out, but then if you tilt the probe you can find it again. Just baby reacting to the pressure on the uterus. I would recommend buying an extra tube of the gel as well. I’m coming close to the end of the first tube now, but there were a few times a checked twice a week since I was nervous that I wasn’t feeling pregnant. It is such a relief to hear it. The one thing that is not always accurate is the count of the heartbeat on the monitor as it really depends on the position of baby. I usually video record myself using the Doppler with my phone, then after wards count the heart beats in 15 seconds and then multiple by 4 to get the accurate heart rate.

I’m in the same boat. Currently 14 weeks and terrified of a MMC. We bought a baby Doppler and check the heartbeat maybe twice a week. It gives me peace of mind…
