Just want to recognize that the word doesn't seem to be used as a slur here. I still find it cringe, but again, circumstances matter.

I mean, we clearly just have opposing views on how handle such matters.
Yeah. Your way is to bury your head in the sand, popping out occasionally to pester those that don't.

You’re calling attention to racism on the sub by commenting on a video that isn’t getting any racists remarks.
Yeah. My point is that white people's mental health freakouts are not met with racial remarks the way that black and brown people's mental health freakout are. It's not nearly as complicated as you are pretending it is.
Go fight the good fight on videos with racism on display.
Again, you're not interested in browsing the sub and seeing where it is, so... okthxbye?

COMMENT 2d ago
You heard someone talk about race on this sub, and then crawled out from under a rock to deny being a racist. I think that's kind of strange/sus, but why do you even care?
You already said you're not interested in learning about racism on the sub, which is what I'm calling attention to. Instead, here you are on a bizzare quest to ignore what I'm talking about and instead make this about you. Well it isn't.
Anyway, if you ever develop an interest, maybe check out how black/brown people's mentally-ill freakouts are treated on this sub.

I get it, you've inserted yourself here to express your confidence that you are not a racist, and you would like this claim to take up all the oxygen in the room. Sorry bud, this isn't about you. Maybe take your own advice and go "delve" somewhere else.

This remind me of what I read about Iran's "cultural revolution." Women that weren't seem to be supporting the Islamic revolution were basically blacklisted.

“maybe you would, maybe you wouldn’t”
Not much of a claim, is it? It's basically an expression that I don't really know you. "Maybe" is a word that means something very different from "probably" or "definitely."
When did I ever say I took no interest?
I told you to have a look around this sub if you don't think a lot of racists live here. He said you have better things to do. Pretty clear you have no interest in the actual subject matter of the claim you are making about this sub (I'm "out of pocket" for suggesting racism is a growing thing on this sub), since you can't even be bothered to evaluate it. Instead, here you are being defensive about what you claim are your own views. That's why I wonder what you're even doing here.

Not sure if it's worth spending political capital on, since practicality of enforcement is doubious, and the right will absolutely rake him over the coals for it. I'd rather see election reform, which is at the root of all political evils these days.
Maybe all the the /r/hermancainaward doom-scrolling is getting to me, but I'm becoming more and more comfortable just letting this thing run its course.

COMMENT 2d ago
Actually, never did. Defensive much?
I mean you did just insert yourself into a discussion about a subject in which you claim no interest. How about maybe just move on instead of sticking around and taking it personal?
1
COMMENT 2d ago
Well if you're going to make claims about this sub with your eyes wide shut, then maybe you're out of pocket.

Another little something no one really wants to talk about:
Not all professionals calling themselves "nurses" are actually Registered Nurses (RNs). Many are just Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), or Nurse Assistants (NAs), or NAs who go through a brief certification program (CNAs).
Due to state nursing "grandfathering" regimes, only about 57% of RNs actually have a bachelor's degree in nursing science. It's my understanding that only Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are required to have advanced degrees. There's a critical shortage of nurses in America, educated or no, so I can't really fault them for wanting to kick people out of the profession or make it harder to enter.
My mom's a retired nurse, and I don't want to take away from the incredible work that healthcare professionals do everyday. I do want to point out though that many in the nursing field have no science or academic background to "do their own research" on medical science. They are not doctors, or researchers. Most have only an associate's degree if not, and wouldn't know what to do with a peer-reviewed academic paper, let alone these pre-print documents that are being relied upon by the Ivermectin/non-vax crowd
At best, the nursing community are extremely competent, emotionally-involved medical technicians. This is why we trust nurses to keep us alive, but not to research or or evaluate the medical literature.
