So Dachau doesn't exist to you?

COMMENT 12h ago

I'm a bad person for this but I like the old Arab tradition of cutting off hands of thieves. You take, we take. Simple as.

COMMENT 13h ago

less than half of the deaths even happened there

Bullshit. You're saying over 5 million intentional deaths happened outside of deathcamps? That goes way beyond even the Rwandan Genocide which had citizens pulling citizens out onto streets. Listen to what you're saying.

We don't need to exaggerate evil. It exists. It doesn't need to be made into a bigger monster.

COMMENT 13h ago

You don't need to. The facts speak for themselves. This is not ancestors vs ancestors. This is contemporary people. The Germans hid their atrocities. The Japanese published them in their newspapers.

You are offensively incorrect when you say that is equal.

5

COMMENT 13h ago

neither was worse than the other

I have to harshly disagree on so many levels. On the base level, and I mean the most innocent level, the Japanese published in their public newspapers the race for officers in Nanking to kill as many people as possible. It's why we have that photo of Japanese officers laughing and showing off a speared Chinese baby on their bayonets. Because it was published in their newspapers.

The Germans at least tried to look like they were good. The Japanese reveled in killing every other nationality around them. The average Japanese citizen would love to read about how many Koreans or Chinese the Imperium killed.

COMMENT 13h ago

There was a literal dyed in the wool Nazi who saw what happened in Nanking (now Nanjing) and tried to save as many people as he could. John Rabe. Saved over 100,000 Chinese.

It's decriminalized. Not legal. You fucking muppet.

No one wants to hear this but an abortion ban in Texas was inevitable due to it having the largest Catholic population in the Union. It's not just an "evil Republican thing". Support comes from the people who are mostly Hispanic and Catholic. It has bipartisan support. Old WASPs vote against abortion and so do young Catholics. Both major voting demographics want an abortion ban. What else could happen? Did you think that all people who vote blue are Seattle baristas?

A joke would be like "Shit you get back with your exes faster than you get back online". It's not about "alpha male bullshit". It's about having self-respect. If you have to resort to a sunk cost fallacy in order to get a response, then you know you're not worth it.

Is this going to be a "celebration of all things Star Trek" or just an ad for whatever the CBS streaming service is now?

-7

COMMENT 15h ago

Nah, OP is cringe as fuck. The passive aggressive "our month long conversation" is just another way to say "you owe me". He acts like a doormat and then slides in that at the end. He was pissed off but couldn't stand up for himself so he went for the plausible deniability of a guilt trip.

Remember guys, the least attractive thing you can be to a woman is boring.

Fuck remakes. Every fucking game this generation is a remake. How about a proper sequel using everything we've learned since 2009?

I can't take another season of Burnham learning how to play nice on a team

They can't even commit to that though. Every season has Burnham be the most important person in the galaxy. Only she can figure out the galactic level threat du jour. Her arc is more like a cranky father learning to love pets, not a person being humbled.

Not just contract disputes, it was downright luck and chance. Read the behind the scenes for Empire Strikes Back. They'd often go in for a day of shooting without a script, coke the fuck up, and just go with it. It was 1980 and they're making a sequel to one of the biggest films of all time. Carrie Fisher alone was responsible for whole percentages of Colombia's GDP.

The difference is whether that denial is active or passive. If I do not give you my kidney, it is by inaction that you are harmed. However, during abortion, it is by action that the fetus is harmed. The equivalent metaphor would be if I was holding you off a cliff and decided that you had no right to my effort, so I dropped you. Or more accurately, cut off your hand to free myself from you.

The bottom line is that a fetus is too undeveloped of a baby to be considered a baby at all. No one would consider it right to leave a baby to starve because it didn't have the right to its mother's milk.

-5

COMMENT 1d ago

you are claiming that one beings bodily autonomy is superior to another

That's exactly it there. This obfuscation about making it about the mother and not the fetus makes it more palatable. Abortion is about a woman's right to kill a fetus inside her. Trying to present the idea as two beings being separated and it just so happens that one is entirely dependent on the other so oops, it dies, is dishonest.

I support abortion (obviously to a point) but let's not beat around the bush.

An embryo has not done or cannot do any of those things.

But it will if left to develop. Your argument comes down to "Quick kill it before it can think".

-7

COMMENT 1d ago

that does not preclude a woman’s bodily autonomy and her decision whether or not to remain a human incubator against her will.

The counter argument is that bodily autonomy is superceded by the fact that this is another body. Abortion laws aren't about a woman can do to her body. It's what she can do to another.

You're telling me that I should avoid the trades because I risk repetitive stress injuries and instead get an office job where repetitive stress injuries are even more common.

This whole argument is that trades are bad because they're more physical than literally sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day and pressing buttons over and over again.

1

COMMENT 1d ago

So it's not inclusive for exactly 100% of people so we should discard it as a viable life path for a majority of people? The physical barrier to entry is incredibly low. You're really saying that because someone who is wheelchair bound cannot work in a garage, then we should dismiss the trades entirely?

The bottom line is that far too many people are going to university. Too much debt combined with the lowering of individual value due to market oversaturation. We don't need more business majors to become leeches in management.

COMMENT 1d ago

No, you don't understand. Corporations are run by evil capitalists who just want to destroy the world. It's not about profit. It's about being evil since they're all sociopaths. You can learn more by watching the documentary Captain Planet.

a list of jobs you cannot do if there’s anything wrong with you physically

There are so many comments like this in this thread and I'm baffled no one sees how ridiculous they are. Reddit's idea of backbreaking work apparently is anything other than sitting immobile in an office chair for 8 hours a day. Do you all think mechanics are manually lifting engine blocks? HVAC techs put units on their back and walk them up the stairs?

You know what's more dangerous to your body than having to actually move a few hours each day? Being overweight and sedentary. The hardest work the average redditor did this month was bend over to pick up their SkipTheDishes meal left by their door and that probably was near enough to blow out their back.

Give them some flaws man.

If you're looking for grey, maybe LotR is not the series for you. Tolkien wrote the series in the style of classical mythologies in which the past is full of heroes and unattainable Goodness. Elves represent that mythical past. They are better than Men because they're living representations of better times. But their time is over and the world is lesser for it. The story of the Fellowship is significant because they managed to fulfill one last act of Goodness in a dying world.

You're losing out on children who want to play games and get an ego boost, not in people who are interested in getting closer to you

I think you need to recognize that everyone doesn't know what they're doing. Women aren't magically perfect. They too can be insecure and not know what to do. Obviously an explicit no means leave her alone but mixed signals doesn't mean give up and treat her like she's radioactive.

Honestly, this is the shit that makes the game hard to play online. Bunch of redditors who get pissy when people don't follow their random rules.
