It's played in Modern and has only been reprinted in premium sets, so it's not really comparable to commons from Standard-legal sets.

Can only change day into night and vice versa as a sorcery though. Still handy but it takes it down significantly from if it was instant speed.

I wasn't criticizing you; was just adding to your list because I also disagreed with the person you responded to, since I'm sure there are even more UB creature decks/tribes if we keep thinking about it. Those were just the two that came to mind for me.

As a Burn player, I will always make that trade. The ideal goal plan of Modern Burn is to get some damage in with creatures early and then finish the opponent off with spells. If you're not attacking with your GG early when the worst case is you trade with a powerful creature, you're doing it wrong IMO.

I'm just referring to how you can choose to not click on something with a NSFW tag

Maro said that this was the best selling “winter” set ever, so regardless of whether people bought into it there are an obscene number of copies of this card in the wild. Just a consideration.

I grew up in Saranac Lake/Lake Placid (super close to Keene Valley by Adirondack standards) and I've never found another place in the US that is quite like that region. The mountains are much older than the mountains in the west, hence why they're so rounded and worn down unlike the Rocky Mountains.
I almost wonder if you'd need to go to BC or western Canada to find an equivalent if you want to go westward, but I've never been so can't say. But there are places in New Hampshire (North Conway) and Maine (Bethel) that have similarly terrible winters, manic tourist seasons and beautiful mountains.

I mean... you can sort them yourself based on the NSFW tags, no?

Yeah this isn't a nitpick, considering the post is tagged this as a Lore Discussion. I'm not even clear what connection OP was drawing between the two.

Although, for that trick, you'd need a way to sacrifice (or destroy) a permanent or enchantment at instant speed, which is the price you pay for having the effect cost so little at the outset.

I haven't played Modern in a while, but usually play Burn when I do. I imagine that what you take out of the 60 for Roiling Vortex depends on the matchup. But is there a particular card you find yourself most often siding out? I guess the Skullcracks, unless you were siding in Vortex to hose lifegain?

[[Mikaeus the Unhallowed]] and [[Triskelion]] but like the other options mentioned I'm not sure if it's competitive.

And people who know the meta often aren't prepared for Burn. I've had people say to me a couple variations of, "Ah, damn. Should've known there's always going to be someone playing Burn."

This is a side question, but do you track the boxes of promos that used to be available at Comic Con as sealed sets? I didn't see them listed, though I see you track those versions of the included cards.

There are still official, certified judges -- it's just done through the Judge Academy and not directly through Wizards.

COMMENT 20d ago
Just a note, OP says that this was a cEDH tournament but not that it was Comp REL. I'm not sure if it matters here (except that it would absolutely not be a game loss since those are difficult to achieve in Regular), but it sounds like it may have been Regular especially since there may not have been a real judge.

It would only be worth a few bucks more to the right buyer in one of the Facebook groups because Pete Venters still signs, and has signed a heck of a lot of cards.
