This takes that argument about as far as it can go, if you're interested.

I’m glad they fired all of them but probably they should find a spot for McMaster. He wasn’t really a true blue trump supporter, even though he was in the administration.

I’ve actually been reading a lot about the history of esoterica and the occult and astrology and alchemy recently and I don’t believe any of it. I’m just fascinated by it.

I think that studying astrology as a thing people do is as good a use of your time as anything, but if you study astrology as a believer, it sort of reveals that you have a lot of misunderstandings about how the world works, and you’d probably be better off learning something real.

That said, I spent a lot of time in catholic school studying the catechism and I don’t believe any of that either, and to be honest, I don’t feel like it was entirely wasted. Even if you walk away from something like that deciding it was bullshit, you’ve still learned something about the way some people see the world and that is worthwhile.

yeah my guess is there's going to be some big donations that they didn't report but nothing like millions of dollars.

Strictly legally speaking, the ruling is defensible. The plaintiffs absolutely sued the wrong people and even if the court had enjoined them from enforcing the law, it wouldn't have prevented them from being sued.

In terms of public policy, of course, it was awful, but that's not what the supreme court does. Planned Parenthood, etc, will get another bite at the apple, though.

We’ve been sanctioning Putin for decades now, how is he doing. How did the sanctions work in Iraq? Iran? How’s it going in Cuba right now? Sanctions going to start working there any day now, I’m sure. Once a country gets its mind set on killing, some mild economic pain isn’t going to make much difference. If you want to stop it, you’re going to need violence, and that has its own problems.

It’s amazing to me how even after being demonstrated to be ineffective over and over again, people keep reaching for the same bag of tricks.

We have to do something! Sanctions are something. Therefore, we have to impose sanctions.

Maybe there are other ways to solve these problems besides blowing shit up and trying to starve people.

COMMENT 6d ago

Sanctions accomplish exactly fuck all beyond starving people who have nothing to do with the problem.

You’re assuming that an intervention would save lives on balance, rather than different civilians being murdered.

Frank Miller is 100% a right wing fascist.

This is 100% not surprising and I expect another case to wind up at the Supreme Court soon. They can’t kick it down the road forever.

It’s not now, but you should definitely read what Margaret Sanger said about eugenics. Donald Trump would be like woah, I think she’s going to far.

Why should he pay for his parent’s debt? My parents have a shitload of credit card debt and a big mortgage. It’s not my problem other than I’m never getting an inheritance.

Also, he is a law student in the US and they’re going to live in the US.

$40k isn’t a lot of debt for a law student.

Your first sentence is objectively wrong. You wrote a whole lot of sentences continuing to not understand anything about how the Supreme Court or the legal system works. The court case was whole women’s health vs Austin reeves and judge Jackson and others. It’s literally the first line of the ruling.

That’s not reporting.

I think you can go beyond just assult. That's battery at a minimum. If they have a good lawyer you could argue intent or that it was with a deadly weapon since he could have drown had he not been able to swim. .

This video is evidence and you could get all 4 of those guys a significant amount of prison time

This person does not know how the law works. Do you really think the police are going to charge people with attempted murder for pushing someone into a pool. Also your lawyer doesn’t press charges on people, the state does.

I love the world that you live in but that’s never been the way journalism has worked in this country.

There’s no such thing as objective reporting, and never has been. There’s always an angle, even in “straight” reporting.
