I have a friend who refuses the vaccine... No amount of data or evidence will convince him to get it. He's a nice guy but he's fuckin TERRIFIED of this vaccine. I just have no idea why.

In the areas we CAN survive, plate tectonics ensures that we still have to deal with volcanoes and earthquakes.

Evolution (or God, pick your poison, doesn't matter for this discussion) has guaranteed the existence of pathogens, predators, parasites, and all sorts of other fun ways to die.

And even if none of those ever got to us, we'd still have to deal with natural disasters (like hurricanes) and diseases of other species that we eat (such as corn or wheat).

But oh yeah, sure. This planet was made as a paradise for humanity. Definitely not hostile to us at all.

Employers would have every incentive under the sun to avoid hiring women. Ever.

Right or wrong, that's just a fact. The choice between hiring a man or woman is a no-brainer if you would be required to give the woman 3-5 extra days off every month.

If you labeled them personal days and gave them to everyone regardless of sex, that's a different story.

He rails against the SLIGHTEST measures to control covid and refuses the vaccine (and encourages others to od the same). Thankfully this is a heavy blue state where the majority of residents know he's a right wing crank.

When you point out that kids have died of this, that's what he says. "They all have comorbidities".

Everyone has SOMETHING wrong with them. What sort of monster declares that anyone with a comorbidity should die?

B) These people win no matter what, because when their loved one dies, it's considered bad form to rub it in their faces.

I mean, it IS bad form to rub it in their faces, but how can we just be expected to "let it go" that they've gotten a preventable illness and died from it, while contributing to the deaths of others?
