This thread and many others are circle jerks for the op when their videos tend to show two idiots in cars. The replies in support of these kind of vids show why there are so many dummies on the roads.

It got too close because the cammer maintained speed/sped up to beat the passer. If someone is passing you, you should be defensive in your driving and let them pass. This is also avoided by not camping in the right/passing lane.

It can be both. You can see the cammer doesn’t want to lose his position and that he’s well aware of the subie passing. He maintained his speed because he’s “in the right” and the subie immediately braked due to the slow moving truck ahead. This is why in many parts of the world, the left lane is passing only. It avoids situations like this.

Well, you can see why. The cammer didn’t even even look like they were slowing down when they hit the brake checker. This feels like a “but I’m right” kinda accident.

I am an American and I grew up in a suburb like this. Both drivers are likely overcompensating for the cars parked on each side of the road and aimed for the middle. People tend to drift towards the middle of a two lane road rather than the outside in my experience.

I’m kind of blown away that we aren’t getting a proper sequel. I like the idea of a remake, but I’d rather see the story continue in the Disneyverse.

Other commenters are pointing out that a contributing factor to the crash is that both drivers went to the middle to avoid the cars parked on the side. I could see that as American drivers aren’t used to narrow roads and so they overcompensate for obstructions like parked cars.

Tan car is at fault, but blue car isn’t paying attention/driving too fast for the road. He didn’t react at all to the car coming head-on to him.

That’s only from our perspective. The blue car likely had a clear look at the intersection from before the moment he entered the frame.

He clearly wasn’t paying attention. He didn’t even stop until he was hit.

I’d say he’s the primary one at fault, but was the other guy even paying attention?

The dash cam was presented from the guy with the right of way, this thread would have tried to justify his bad defensive driving.
