As much as I would like to start my own business, this is what truly scares me. Most decent businesses that isn’t just buying and selling things at a mark-up requires significant initial capital. One wrong move and that’s years of work and boatload of cash down the drain.

This false arrest may seem amusing, but actually going through one is no joke and can really fuck with your life. I’ve been falsely arrested by mistaken identity for a serious crime, and the county jail I was locked in were all solitary confinement. As someone who suffers from claustrophobia plus the mental stress of being accused of a crime really fucks your mind.

Little known fact is that lawyer fees grow exponentially for felony arrests. Also, arrest records stay online. Those are handled by another lawyer.

And no. I didn’t bother suing the PD for the false arrest. Just about every litigator I talked to said it was a lost cause in that county.

It financially and mentally ruined me.

Oh man.. I went on a massive deep dive years ago through Wikileaks reading documents that, today, seems to have been erased off the face of the earth.

But from what I recall all the grunts, field ops, spec ops etc. were fully aware about how incredibly formidable Taliban fighters were, and absolutely did not underestimate them, just as you say.

On the other hand, the higher ups, the pencil pushers, and consultants that planned Op Red Wings 1 dropped the ball by not only underestimating how formidable the Taliban fighters were but also got the location of Ahmad Shah completely wrong. They also underestimated how quickly and effectively the Taliban were able to scale such rough terrain.

My comment though was mostly aimed at American civilians who assume that these guys are nothing more than just dudes in sandals running around with AK’s. They’re not. They’re scary mfers.

This is the kind of underestimation of Taliban fighters that caused disasters like “Operation Red Wings”. This soft ‘Murica dude probably has mental break downs over masks and bad service at restaurants, but Taliban fighters have spent a lifetime being brainwashed into maiming, torturing, and killing with ease. They also have no problem sleeping out in the dirt for months. Yes, they have worse equipment, and yes they are poorly trained against the American military, but if a normal civilian American met an actual belligerent, they would shit their pants.
