So I'll do "soft" bricks and "hard" bricks. The soft ones are when I get off the bike, I'll take my time. Use the bathroom and maybe have a snack and completely change clothes before heading out. I'll do those throughout the season. The hard bricks, are more race simulation. I'll be in my tri kit on the bike and have everything laid out on a mat to stimulate transition.

Other than that, I'll address most of it through my weekly training plan. For example, if I have a track day where I'm doing speed or tempo work, I'll do an easy bike in the morning before work. Nothing strenuous, the track work is the key session to hit. But just enough that the legs are rarely running fresh.

I have that one! I love it and use it during bad weather all the time, but it's a bitch to clean. They sell plastic grill pan scrapers which fit the ridges perfectly. I highly recommend you buy one immediately.

I want to like boykin. I really do. He just seems to constantly let us down when we need him most. Blocking is super important and he doesn't get enough credit for it, yes. But he's paid to be a receiver and imo, he just drops too many in make or break situations.

Assuming electrolytes are good, coffee. After a long run, I want nothing more than coffee and a cold shower. A cold beer is also acceptable

For things to do, the harbor is the tourist thing but you'll find better food elsewhere. You can check out Camden yards, Poe's grave if you're into that, I love walking around fells point (tons of great bars and restaurants).

Light rail and Uber are good for getting from BWI to the harbor. If you're getting a car, get your lodging in federal hill so you can just walk to the stadium and not fuss with trying to park. Federal hill has great restaurants and bars too. Both neighborhoods are safe.

There is tons of history to explore and they even have their own Washington monument. By the monument is a speakeasy called the owl bar which is pretty cool and the food is good.

If I'm starting out a season, I like the ftp test as it gives me a better idea of where I'm starting. For those during season tests, I like ramp because they don't stress the body as much and I can hold my training plan.

At the end of the day, I don't stress too much about the ftp test because I'm never riding my bike for exactly 1hr. It's a good indicator of improvement and progress, don't get me wrong, but it's not the whole story.

For my first one, it was just how fatigued I was after the swim. I was a strong cyclist. At any given time I could do the 56 mile ride. But after the swim, I found myself cramping after 40 miles which was very foreign to me. Set myself up for a horrible run. Solution was more swimming and adding some nutrition in T1 and just before the swim.

The kickr definitely counts. There are even some pros who opt for indoor riding even when it is nice out.

Miles in the saddle my friend. There is no substitute. For the most part, I would recommend working in a long day, tempo work or hill repeats, and a day off low intensity spinning. That would be the minimum. If you're really committed, you could get a 4th day in there to do some additional zone 2 work. You'll get quite a bit of carry over fitness from the other 2 sports, but you'll still have to spend time in the bike.

That reaction time... Also just the awareness of knowing that a bus on the side of the road likely means pedestrians.

I mean... You say overgearing, so first thing I would try is lowering the gear ratio and increasing cadence. Second, I would have someone look at your fit. Make sure the alignment is good.

This has been baffling me for a while now. I see anti vax signs all the time that just say to follow the science. But they have yet to actually elaborate on exactly what science they're talking about.
