If you read what I wrote, I highlighted that modern men seem to be placing too much importance on relationships and not finding their "place" in the world as a result (i.e their life goals aside from relationships). I think this is where the difference truly lies between men and women, because women are typically satisfied by chasing other goals in their life if they don't have a partner.

Honestly, this sounds like the same old "men need compliments from random women to live" thing. Yes, it would be nice to have a partner for anyone, but I think your conclusion is off. Imo this problem arises because modern men do not have any life goals outside of relationships, since their old roles are now filled by women too (earners, breadwinners, etc). It seems to me that the men who state they need a woman are unable to imagine themselves providing worth in any other capacity, and that bothers them.
