My best advice for having fun with the game is to avoid any side quest that seems too boring. Guys tell you to go collect minerals, ignore. Someone sends you on a collect-a-thon, ignore. If you stick to the parts of the game that are the most fun, it's pretty enjoyable. Liam's side mission was my favorite.

FONV is a near perfect game for so many reasons. But I think the biggest question that Fallout New Vegas asks is how you settle the west. The NCR represents bringing government to the land keeping it from remaining independent. Mr. House represents keeping the land independently run and wild. The game pulls no punches and asks you to make a truly difficult choice. Do you bring government accepting all of the struggles that creates? The fact that they're inefficient, will plot the assassinations of opposing group leaders, and forces their laws on everyone. But they do have laws, a court system, they feed the poor(or at least they tried to). Mr. House wants to keep the west wild but he has zero oversight. The rich can do whatever they want. When the BoS annoy him he has you kill them. You are forced to kill all the men, women, and children. He also has the richest people living it up on one side of a wall, while there are literal starving kids chasing rats down for food on the other side. But he doesn't force his rules on anyone, has deadly efficiency, and he's maybe the smartest person alive on the planet.

It's a tough choice but an interesting one and you could make arguments either way. There's a real debate to be had.

The yes man ending is the failsafe. Sure it's fun. I enjoy doing a Tony Montana and building a criminal empire. But you don't have to really ask yourself the hard questions when you go that way. You don't have to decide between keeping the west free or bringing law and order. The game ends saying the robots will do whatever you say, so you can just imagine them imposing your will regardless of what that is. You don't really have to sacrifice anything for that ending.

The Legion is just evil. I know people make edgelord arguments about how in the long run he'll bring a more lasting peace but... that bullshit. Ceasar couldn't even take the dam the first time around. Do you really think any peace he brings will be lasting especially as Ceasar is dying? And I'm sorry but any argument that thinks the best progression of the world is to rape and enslave is just being stupid. The NCR is a government started from scratch yet they already have female generals and leaders. Going backwards to turn women into fuck puppets is a step in the wrong direction. It's fun to play though when you're pretending to be a sadist but it's not a real ending for the west.

So true. There are many divorced couples that still love each other but that isn't enough when they've grown apart. It's sad to say but you can love someone and still not enjoy their company and lose all the things you have in common.

The only two real endings are the NRC and the House endings. The Yes man and Leigon endings are simply fun copout endings.
