There's nothing to stop you all from buying your own property. If you're really dedicated to the cause, start buying properties and letting people live there for free.

You have to make it easier to fire them for it to work. But if you increase the pay, you increase your pool of applicants. You have to be able to easily fire them and try new people for this theory to actually work.

Extreme version but, say I own a fast food restaurant and I want the best cashiers in the industry. I decide I'm going to pay $250k. This doesn't mean I'm going to be guaranteed the best cashiers, but it does mean that I'm going to have a nearly unlimited pool of applicants. I would be able to continue to hire, fire, and hire until I find the perfect employees.

You'll be fine. Just stay humble and willing to learn. You're going to come out of this in a great position. With your project management experience you'll be able to be anything you want to be in the industry from JW up to Superintendent. If you get done with the apprenticeship and decide you liked the office life better, someone with a PM experience a CM degree and a completed apprenticeship will be able to get another PM job very easily.

They can, will and have changed pension payouts and retirement ages all the time. Another common tactic to maintain funding status is to freeze benefits. I'm in a pension that hasn't increased benefits since 2000, but they always tout their funding status. My grandpa is in this same pension, he's been drawing $1200 a month from it since 2000. With inflation that's an effective reduction of around 40%.

If the feds take over your pension, you're not going to get anywhere near what you thought. As far as state pensions, some states are in really bad shape. No guarantee that's still going to pay you in 30-50 years.

Pensions are only good for people who are bad with money. I'll take 401ks and defined contributions every day of the week.

We used Glen Oaks and the food was very reasonably priced compared to most catering services. You can for sure get buffet style, serve it yourself catering much cheaper, but as far as plated we found it to be comparable.

I'm guessing VIPs getting units in September for publicity. Sellable units maybe by the end of the month. Maybe.

Fuck a pension. The ROI is almost always shit, retirement age can be changed, payout can be changed and they can potentially just disappear. You're always better off taking more money and ditching the pension unless you're just terrible with money.

Ironically enough, dealerships have been regulated into existence. Most every state has laws protecting their existence. What was that about free market?

Call around to country clubs. You can often get them cheap if you're doing the reception there as well.

I think it would be fun too, but that is one of the least scenic train rides you could take, unless you have a passion for corn fields and windmills.

Even if you arrive 2 hours early, 1 hour flight, 30 minutes to get your bags and 30 minutes to get downtown you're still 1 hour 45 minutes ahead of the train though.

I have precheck and don't check bags for a short trip so it would be like 2.5 hours ahead of the train for me.

I wonder what the cost will be. You can fly to Chicago on Southwest pretty damn cheap usually.

Even having 2 vehicles It's convenient for a car guy with kids to have something with a back seat because they can bring the kids along when they take the car out. Having a car that you can only drive when you don't have your kids with you severely limits your driving opportunities.

On pace to double 2019's number. Absolute insanity. I'm not smart enough to know what the solution is, but somethings got to be done. I'm pretty confident our current solution of doing nothing isn't going to fix shit.

Just 100 companies contribute 71% of all greenhouse gasses. It's not whataboutism, it's the truth. Individuals have very little impact.

In most situations buying wins if you're going to live there for more than a few years. A few VHCOL, especially those with rent control, the answer isn't always as clear cut.
