My high school son had two kids in one of his classes Friday. We live in a large city in Ohio. They are all either out sick with covid or quarantining due to a close contact. Football game was cancelled due to covid. Mask mandate starts Tuesday. They should have had the mask mandate on day 1. If you are vaccinated and have a close contact they don't make you quarantine. So this tells me not many high school kids are vaccinated if he only has two in his class.

I'm going to a touring Broadway show in October in the Midwest. They are requiring proof of vaccine or negative covid test within 72 hours.

My vaccinated 17 year old son said something similar. He said he said he did his part by getting vaccinated. Says he doesn't care anymore if they make bad decisions. I do feel bad for some of this classmates though. He has a friend whose Mom won't let him get vaccinated. Now the kid is sick with covid. Five on his soccer team are out with covid. High school had to cancel Friday football game because so many are sick or on quarantine. You don't have to quarantine at his school if you are vaccinated so this tells me many at the high school not vaccinated.

My daughter goes to the same in-state college my husband and I attended. Cost for tuition and room and board is about $30,000. It should cost about $15,000 adjusted for inflation. We could work full-time in the summer and part-time during school and pretty much pay our way. There is no way my daughter could pay $30,000/year on her own with her engineering classes. After showing my Dad the cost several times he finally got it and has stopped saying she can pay her own way like we did. He's now helping her out. In-laws still don't get it. They also don't get why our healthcare costs are so high. Don't believe we have a $10,000 deductible. Their solution is we get a new policy. Sadly, that is what my employer is offering.

Currently live in Ohio. Fans from opposing team came to sit in our home section and shouted insults at the cheerleaders and made fun of them. Not racist comments but just making fun of them. My daughter was a cheerleader. Couldn't believe adults would act like this. Also a few of our football parents are very racist and make racist comments amongst each other. If they say this stuff in public can't imagine what they are teaching their kids at home.

I can relate. My Mom was a Democrat for years. Pro-union and social policies. Her parents were immigrants. My Dad was Republican and I remember her arguing with him about their policies. In her senior years she started listening to Fox news and loved Trump because he is a businessman and will run the country like a business. She actually believed Mexico was going to pay for the wall. I asked my Dad why he liked Trump and he said that Trump doesn't take crap from people. At least he doesn't spend time watching Fox and went to get vaccinated as soon as he could.

My 17 year old son wants a part-time job. He applied to a few places in town with help wanted signs up including Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts and Wendy's. Only Taco Bell called him for an interview and he never heard back. He's a good kid, clean cut and doesn't get in trouble. He would do a good job. These places still have the help wanted signs up.

Where in Washington? My daughter is working in Tri-Cities area and only 30% vaccination rate at her company. 7% of workforce out with covid. A lot of racist people. People with Trump stickers on their hardhats at work. Noose hanging up in office. Seattle area is lovely but her area seems not a lot better than Texas.
