They have a special place in my heart. My mother, one of four siblings, built an addition on to our house so they wouldn’t have to live in a retirement home. I carry that with me and assured my parents that as long as I’m alive, they’ll never be left alone.

I almost drowned last year.
There’s a big creek/swimming hole in my town. There’s a rope swing that lets you land in the slow part of the creek and then there’s a waterfall shortly after. People also like to jump from the waterfall.
The waterfall is only about a 6 ft fall but the creek is about 50 feet Long. It’s a ton of water flowing.
I jumped of with a stranger and surfaced. When I was getting out on the side of the creek next to the waterfall I got sucked under.
I’m 6’2” and a strong swimmer. But man. I could not get out. I could get up for maybe half a second, enough to gasp, and then get sucked back under. When I was under water and running out of breath I thought “this is it. I’m literally about to die.”
Eventually I was able to get out about 25’ from where I started. The stranger I jumped off with was there and pulled me up. I stood there with my arm around him for a couple minutes because I was completely drained of energy and exhausted.
Never jumping off that thing again.

I almost died last year in a waterfall. No joke made my peace with God. Waterfalls are no joke. They suck you down and don’t let you go. Scariest moment of my life.
