It's exactly how Nazism happened. But often the cure for that is exposure to different people and ideas which challenge your ignorance and preconceptions. A lot of Trump supporters are good people with zero actual exposure to different ideas, which is why they're threatened by them. It puts them right on the wrong end of the Dunning Kruger curve.

I appreciated you taking the time to post this. I know plenty of Trump supporters who are actually really decent people, we just have a fundementally incompatible view on certain issues, and I don't think it's because they're bad people, I think it's just because they look at things in a way that's so starkly different to how I see them that I can't find a way to bridge that gap.
