I don't personally see it as the responsibility of the server to protect the customer's ego. I get that you didn't like his vibe and thought he was being arrogant, and probably he was. I'd still say it's your responsibility to be explicit with the customer about making a large purchase, and that's what I would have done in that situation when I was bartending / waitering.

Probably going to get downvoted here, but OP was in the wrong for not stating the price upfront, even if the customer was an asshole.

To be fair as someone who used to live nearby, there's not a lot else to do in Fareham.

But they've wasted so much cheese and oil in making that thing!

I know, but many beginners get confused by it (including me when I started using Vim,) hence the comment.

Now the mobile app is out, I'm curious if you've had an opportunity to try it. It has got lots of buttons so that you don't need to type in much markdown (e.g. you can press a button to create bold text, a header, a link and so on.) I think that markdown is not too onerous to get the hang of though - it's mostly normal text, with some neat little tricks to format that are basically the same as Reddit (two asterisks creates bold text, three dashes creates a horizontal line.) How much you use that is kind of up to you IMO.

Either way I hope you find/have found a knowledge management / note-taking system that works for you!

Thanks, this really helps! I think that I have ADHD too so I'm particularly concerned about getting bored of meditation.

What's yogic transmission?

COMMENT 11d ago

Yeah I think I have to find other techniques which are enjoyable. I find mindfulness of breathing dull and metta bhavana hard because I struggle to cultivate metta for anyone.

I don't know what the terms bhakti, prasayana or asana mean. I usually meditate before breakfast, after showering, so I feel fresh but not drowsy from food. So in the morning. I meditate in my room which I don't use for anything else except getting changed.

I sit in a chair facing the window in my room (I find it more comfortable than the floor.) I have a blanket to keep me warm and a pillow to rest my hands on. I usually set a timer which gongs every 5 minutes. For mindfulness of breathing I currently do three stages: counting the breaths after each out breath; counting the breaths before each in breath; and (trying to) focus on the whole of the breath.

For metta bhavana I try to do the first three of five stages currently: feeling metta for myself, for a loved one, and for a neutral person. I usually start with the loved one as I struggle to feel any metta for myself. Sometimes I struggle to feel metta for anyone to be honest, or to connect with the process. I try saying affirmations in my mind, or saying them out loud sometimes.

Question ❓ How do you come to enjoy meditation?

Well, true, still the people. As much as it sucks to know that our taxes fund NHS treatment for anti-vaxxers and other idiots, I still wouldn't have it any other way. Even the most despicable prisoner in the world has a right to healthcare unless he or she has been condemned to death.

Your argument makes sense in a system where people have to pay for healthcare, not the government.

As much of a danger as unvaccinated people are to society, I'd always argue against making a shitty healthcare system shittier. You guys seem to have it hard enough affording to keep yourselves healthy. One of the principles of the NHS is that they don't get to pick and choose who to treat - everyone gets healthcare. It sucks if the patients are despicable pieces of shit, but honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Basic healthcare should be a human right anyway.

I don't if I can avoid it. We use Zoom and Slack at work but some people also use Teams for some reason.
