Well somebody's got to stack them up in the morgue trucks.

Yup, unfortunately.

One of my best friends is a nurse, he did a BS in psych before he went into nursing. He says some of the dumbest people he knows are among his nurse colleagues.

Why are you assuming the father wants the child? In the vast majority of abortions, both parents make that choice together.

That's exactly what I'm trying. I've been trying to get my surgeon to get me a referral to their Denver system. He initially said no because they finally assigned me a date in September and he said I might as well wait for that. But then that got canceled and now it's been another week and a half of waiting for him to respond and let me know if he can refer me to Denver now or not. Lot of time being wasted in the meantime, in pain. I called them again today to ask if they decided on the referral yet, before Denver gets worse too. They said they'll try to make sure he gets back to me by tomorrow.

No it's the nurses and recovery rooms being reassigned for covid. The surgeon I assume isn't doing a whole lot this month except for seriously urgent emergency surgeries. The shortage is almost entirely in nurses I think, and probably monitoring equipment that people need after surgery also.

And doors often close 30 minutes before departure on international flights! I wouldn't even dream of showing up for a flight with three kids and a bunch of luggage that needs to be checked with less than an hour and a half before the flight, and likely much earlier than that. And that's with pre-check.

Trying to convince my surgeon to give me a referral to their Denver neurosurgery program, in hopes they might be able to get to me a few weeks sooner. I've got friends there I can stay with. Hoping to hear back by tomorrow.

KP neurosurgery

COMMENT 2d ago

Yup, in Portland, vaccinated and waiting in crippling pain for my cancelled surgery. Been waiting for weeks, no new date. Meanwhile all our local beds are being taken up by antivaxxer assholes from rural areas that have spent years rejecting tax measures that could have improved their own local health infrastructure.

I hope each day is better than the next for them!

I get what you're saying about cheering on the spread in general of course. However, I'm one of those people waiting for urgent surgery, and I can tell you this: Being in crippling pain every day, waiting to hear until I can get rescheduled for surgery, yes, I'm cheering on every idiot who dies on a ventilator and gets his Herman Cain Award, because that's one more asshole wiped off this planet and a bed available again perhaps this time for a cancer patient or someone else waiting for an urgent surgery.

Already the case here in Oregon since early August, and they were already majorly backlogged then. My urgent neurosurgery has been canceled with no new date. I'm in my 30s, was completely healthy before this, now I'm in crippling pain, bedbound for months until I can get surgery, and no idea when it will happen. October at the earliest and that's a best case scenario. Meanwhile my body is being irreparably damaged.

When they say "elective" surgeries are postponed, they're not talking about minor surgeries. There talking about major neurosurgeries, cancer, heart problems, people losing their vision or hearing, and so on. Elective just means: you're not bleeding to death immediately.

If you teach kids it's okay to shoplift from anyone you're a piece of shit.

How to say your don't understand politics without saying you don't understand politics. And this gets a bunch of awards??

Those are overwhelmingly issues a President doesn't decide unilaterally, and for most, Biden's hands are tied by SCOTUS and/or Congress.

We really need more civics classes in America so people actually understand what Presidents do, and which branch is responsible for what.

Towed on what basis?

COMMENT 2d ago

FYI: Not receiving the tow notice because you were gone for two months may not give you any legal leg to stand on.

I've rented in a number of different states/cities/countries. Almost every single one had a clause in the contract: You can't leave a rental unoccupied for an extended period of time (usually 2-4 weeks) because issues like a burst pipe could happen and there would be nobody there to notice and fix it. Also, property insurance typically requires continuous occupation; insurance for vacant buildings is different.

So if you find yourself in this situation, check your lease. Not having seen the letter that gave notice will likely not work as a legal defense.

That's been the case for every place I've ever rented, and I've lived in a number of different states/cities. Yeah, I fear it might not be worth the investment of taking the whole family this year, when the kids might not get the full experience, and things like opera performances might not be happening. Thank you for the insights!

Are most things staying open? We're eyeing Salzburg for a Christmas trip, but we're hesitant to make plans if a lot of things to see or likely to be closed due to covid. Obviously that's hard to predict right now, but if things are open again right now, they may be in December as well, barring a more vaccine resistant covid variant.

I saw that you added photos and took a quick look. I'm sorry but they aren't worth anything. A used bookstore might give you a dollar. That's about it. "Old" when it comes to books is before 1800, and even then most books are still not worth anything. These are much newer and just stuff that even Goodwill wouldn't take I'm afraid. But if you enjoy them and have a connection to them, then by all means display them!

He posted some pictures and I took a look, they're not worth anything. They're the kind of stuff Goodwill throws in the trash on a daily basis.

You are 100% wrong. I'm amazed anyone would even upvote that, the possibility for reinfection should already be well known.
